Windows 7 Taskbar vs Objectdock
Is Objectdock pointless?

I've been using Objectdock before Vista even came out but around the time when Windows 7 was coming in RCs and RMTs, I stopped using Objectdock because I had fallen in love with the new taskbar.
Is there any point in using Objectdock when I can just use the Windows 7 Taskbar instead? I mean I can put all those dock shortcuts onto my Windows 7 Taskbar and even customize it's icon. I don't think I really need tools like weather and time because I already have Rainmeter and gadgets on my desktop. I guess Objectdock has tabs to seperate catagories such as games and programs but why not just put all of your icons on the taskbar?
Just wanted to know why I would ever want to use Objectdock over/along with Windows 7 Taskbar.

It all comes down to what you like. There are some options that Object Dock has like being able to move it around on the desktop that do come in handy.

This was my thinking for a while too. When I first got Windows 7 I didn't use Objectdock for a long time. Love the Superbar. But as most on this site, appearance is a big factor for me. There are just so many things you can do with OD2 that are visually more appealling than the superbar, and still have (almost) all of the functionality. The only thing I wish I could get from OD2 that I get from the taskbar is jumplists. But for now I'll manage.

You can't put very many icons on the taskbar for one thing. I have a huge amount of shortcuts that I use all the time, so a tabbed dock or two is necessary for me.
Another is that some of the docks are worth using just because they look so good with the right icons. I've even gone as far as having oversized icons/docks on my desktop just because they are great works of art.

I still prefer objectdock, because I can categorize the programs
