Sisters. An update becomes a new project
Tuesday, April 6, 2010 by 2of3 | Discussion: Sneak Previews
Years ago, I did a purple skin called Tirill dedicated to my daughter with the same name. I have always felt like I should update the skin for Vista and Windows 7. The thing is, whenever I have attempted an update on any skin, it always turns into a totally different skn!
Looking back at the Tirill series, I felt that the color wasn't bold enough, the graphics not good enough and just not a proper tribute to Tirill.
My wife and I have also had another daughter since, so this is a perfect time to do a substyle for her.
The skin name is Sisters. 2 styles: Tirill and Vilde.
First, a reminder
Tirill WB 2007:

Looking at it now, the purple seems almost gray to me. As if it has faded over the years. I have decided to go with a bolder purple color this time.
Tirill 2010:

Really, the only thing that is the same is the shape of the Start Menu.
For the Vilde substyle, I have chosen a raspberry color (ok.....call it pink if you want)

I realize that these skins won't appeal to everybody (maybe even very few), but I'm sure my kids and maybe yours too will enjoy them ![]()
When completed these will be uploaded here as free skins.

I think you doing this for your daughters says a lot, Tim...about you as an artist, and about you as a person. They're all good things. The only drawback? The skins, no matter how masterfully done will never be as beautiful as those little heart breakers.
To a great skinner and an even greater dad and person.

Your motivation is truly wonderful. The skins look great. And as soon as they are available and we start downloading them and using them, you will have the knowledge that we all share a little essence of your family on our desktops.
Well done.

Somehow I missed this when it was first posted. This is a truely noble endeavor. What better beneficiaries of your art than your own children! ![]()

By the way: Anyone that knows me could tell you that I tend to make drastic changes during the skinning process, so this is how the skins look as of now. The final product may look different
