Can't seem to add a Weather dock that was removed..it's in the directory but doesnt show up in the context menu..same happens for any new docklets I try to install..

Can you not install custom docklets yet?

This program is really frustrating..shouldn't be so when you pay for something..

Remember this is a BETA, you paid for the release version. This is NOT the release version. There are going to be bugs that need to be fixed still.

c242 I had that problem with version one of the stacks docklet but, somebody here on the forum posted a link to version 2 just look around it is here some wheres and then things worked fine

That brought no improvement. If only OD had native stacks. The flyouts are not what I am after. They are nice to play with, but too nervous at times. What really makes me wonder that stardock listens to customers with WB and others while just plain ignoring demands regarding other apps...

And let's hope for an official statement in this thread.

Beta means not done you are testing it and new things will be added. Thiis is how most beta programs work any how. I  am betting you will be able to add your own theme in the next update or so.

You paied to save $10 when it is release. Stardock explain this is not retail so why are people getting upset? If you want a finish product stick with 1.9

I keep saying it folks: Every piece of software whose developer hasn't deserted it is essentially a "Beta" in that at some point, changes (removing, updating, fixing, adding) will have to occur.

The only "Final" piece of software is one which is no longer being worked on, or one which has been abandoned/orphaned.

This HAS been discussed and a temp solution that WORKS has been given us, use the SEARCH... hell just look through the list of subjects on the first page. 14th thread from the top as I am writing this and I got https://forums.stardock.com/379042 . Yes it is a little bit of a pita but it does work.

Different development teams may handle feedback and updates in a different way.

I am sure the ObjectDock team have seen the posts about the stacks problems and hopefully they will implement a built in solution for 2.0.

OD2 has been "in beta" for over three years now.  In fact, it has been three years BETWEEN beta releases.

I sure do hope it's now officially on the weekly update roadmap again.

I did search I guess I just didn't do it effectively.  I figured out this much on my own..it's just a pain and I think the real problem was I was using SysStats which just doesn't work no matter what...needs updated version I suppose.    Still I didn't realize that the beta was just a pre-release to the actual release when I paid..I thought you had to pay for the beta...my mistake there.  So I guess it makes sense that there are bugs.

This is true as I said above this is a mistake on my part...however beta for 3 years?  What gives....?  Kinda makes me think the money was wasted if it has been in beta that long seems like it won't come out of beta...

Anyways..the program actually works for what I need and I quite like it..though not sure why I paid for it when it doesn't do much more than all the free apps out there like RK Launcher...   I do like it and am using it at home (using RK Launcher up here at work since only need simple menu here)

One question I couldn't find via searching, is there no option to change the Running Indicator (I know I can just rename the file to make it work but where is the actual option?)

Thanks!

Beta for 3 years? They talked about it for 3 years but that doesn't mean they were working on it for 3 years.

The last Beta for OD2 (v1.9xx) was indeed about three years ago.  No one released an updated version during that time because Brad chose to divert Stardock (his company after all) from their core business of Windows customizing in an attempt to become a competitor to Valve's Steam...via Impulse.

It's his call, of course, but it is true that a lot of manpower and programming resources were diverted to the development of Impulse (and Stardock games, etc.) and only recently was the lead programmer of Impulse put back onto ObjectDock in a meaningful way.

So yes, there was a three year lag between updates for OD2 betas.

I hope that any interim work "under the hood" makes it easier and faster to fix not only the new bugs that have cropped up, but also those that remain after all these years.

Cheers to the new version of ObjectDock!

Is there a way to remove the Reflection effect from an individual zoomer dock? The option isn't there on the Settings UI and I cannot see anything obvious in the CurrentTheme.ini file either.

I want me some free-floating docks with fully transparent backgrounds and it looks odd with the reflection effect in place.

OD2 has not been in beta for 3 years. The beta for 1.97 (2.0) just recently started. The previous version (1.9) has been released for quite some time. This is a totally new version.

actually, in the development world, Beta means almost all features are in, and require extensive testing.  i'm hoping this is more of an Alpha release, that is the stage where many features are missing, not beta.

if there isn't an extensive feature set coming they won't even compare to competitors like the nexus dock. i mean, they've already made some of those features in their free dell and impulse docks, yet you can't get them in the paid dock.

Installation reported successful, and the application actually worked nicely for one day.  I had even gotten through re-adjusting my icons and docklets that didn't transfer between versions completely.

After reboot of the PC, I now get a windows dialog box with the following, when starting ObjectDock2 Plus:
"Application failed to start because Hook.dll was not found.  Re-install the application may fix this problem."  - OK Button -

This dialog repeatedly appears after I press OK, for 100s of times...  Until I kill the program via TaskMgr.

   I've Uninstalled, rebooted, and re-install ObjectDock2...

   To no success....

Stardock support, please help me.

ObjectDock Tray is NOT on my list

You don't have it because you didn't manually add the docklet code to the docklet folder in your ObjectDock installation folder

Therefore, no problem!

I do not have this in my list either so spill where do we get it?

I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong here.  I've been using 1.9x betas for ObjectDock for three years now.  They were always labeled as betas of v2.  Just search google, these forums, even the program's own history.

And while there is indeed a new config interface, the list of current bugs still contains almost every bug reported three years ago (multimon, etc.).  That would indicate that the underlying engine is hardly changed at all.

This version begins to address some issues that were partially broken (systray support) and added a couple new features (reflection and ghost mode), yet even those new features have broken even more things.

Regardless, I am hoping we see fixes regularly going forward and that whatever under the hood work that has been done makes this faster and easier for the master programmer(s) behind OD.

alpha version

A very early version of a software product that may not contain all of the features that are planned for the final version. Typically, software goes through two stages of testing before it is considered finished. The first stage, called alpha testing, is often performed only by users within the organization developing the software. The second stage, called beta testing , generally involves a limited number of external users.

beta test

A test for a computer product prior to commercial release. Beta testing is the last stage of testing, and normally can involve sending the product to beta test sites outside the company for real-world exposure or offering the product for a free trial download over the Internet
. Beta testing is often preceded by a round of testing called alpha testing.

i'm hoping this is more of an Alpha release,
to me

Who cares stop crying they release the beta and people are still upset geez. I have giving Stardock hell for the last couple years on and off over OD but they have deliver what I wanted and I am happy.

They didn't promise a final release in March it a freaking Beta!!! I don't care how long they worked on it to get to this point the fact is Stardock should get credit for not killing OD+ like all the rest of windows docks are pretty much but for winstep.

People who downloaded OD+ 2 sign up for a beta then will get the final when done if you can't read shouldn't have brought it. Beta means bugs, and missing things to be irony out through out the process so hopefully the final version is has perfect as it can be.

I am sure themes etc will be added as the beta process moves along along with the missing icons for my documents, music etc. If it bugs you go back to 1.9

By the way I own 1.9 and never seen the 1.97 beta you talk about.
