A suggestion for a DesktopX capability
Saturday, February 27, 2010 by Philly0381 | Discussion: DesktopX
As a non-skinner I try to stay away from making suggestions for options or capabilities in the software. I goes along way in keeping myself looking like a dummy. ![]()
So, I'm about to make a suggestion, wonder how this is going to work out.
Just recently I've started to use two apps on my desktop that people here skin for, Xion and Clocx. One feature, option or capability that they both have is the ability to zoom. On the surface that really doesn't sound like much but it does give the user a way to better fit the skin into the desktop environment.
Would this be a capability that would be of use with DesktopX?
Granted that it may not work with every skin produced but I believe that it would be a nice option to have.
What do you think or better yet could it possible? ![]()

I'm not familiar with ClocX. How can you zoom on Xion? Or do you mean resizing the whole thing?

Do you mean to be able to have the entire desktop to be able to change resolutions? I'm unsure of what you mean if not that. If that is what you mean, then all my skins are resolution independent from 1024 and up.
If you mean to have each individual part of a desktop to resize smaller or larger, then I think that would require a great deal of work on the part of the coders. And, as we all know, the end users are expected to be the coders.

I imagine that'd be hard to do given the way widgets are made up of so many moving pieces. Most widgets are small enough for me. I could definitely use resizing handles in DX Builder mode, though.

Hmmm, I might have posted this in the wrong category.
