upgrading

Thursday, February 18, 2010 by gmc2 | Discussion: Windows 7

I'm getting ready to upgrade to win7 (home) and will be adding cs4 extended, dropping paintshoppro 7 and 10.

any words of caution or bumps in the road that I need to be aware of in general or specific to this site?

side question: I have wb7 installed but the advisor printout indicates version 6.4?

Greg...I don't have those programs, so I don't know...but I'd say (general advice) check out the Upgrade Advisor

from Microsoft. Could save some pain, bud.

I have and will but was more wondering about the wc programs and skinning in general. see lots of issues cropping up but not across the board and figure most of those to be unique (operator error).

DX and ODPlus from my experience, have problems with 64 bit Win7,not sure if these are present in 64 bit Vista as I'm 32 bit there.(OD+ is) but they are minor. Performance meter plug-ins  are inaccurate and some clocks don't run in DX,Start Menu Launcher and systray in OD+ are inop.

Not dealbreakers by any means but I'd like to see them working on my version of Seven. Otherwise most everything else in ODNT works great on both OS's.

back up of personal files, family pictures, financial records, etc, that kind of thing.

upgrade advisor suggestions suck, lost my dvd drive with uninstalling the programs they suggested and had to use a restore point to get it back. funny.

I upgraded from Vista Ultimate to Win7 Ultimate, and also upgraded from cs3 to cs4, and have no problems at all, so you should do the upgrade, totally worth it!
