Registration Key Information Not Provided In Auto-Email Responses
Impulse Client "Look up serial number" and esupport.stardock.com both fail to provide keys in the emails sent
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 by Aesir Rising | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Past couple of days I've been doing some impulse shopping (har har) and installing stuff on a rebuilt laptop of mine, and I've needed to look up account names, serial numbers for past purchases (to qualify for upgrade/discount pricing, etc.). The automated email responses that (usually) send me a long email with everything I need are now missing the critical info... the serial numbers... for every product I've ever purchased through SDC and Impulse.
Example line item for one product for several email responses I've requested this past day or so:
Product Name : Sins of a Solar Empire (Download + Retail Box)
User Name :
Download : http://www.impulsedriven.com/about.asp (Install Impulse AND use serial above)
Example line item for that same product taken from an old email (November) from the same auto-response system:
Product Name : Sins of a Solar Empire (Download + Retail Box)
User Name :
Download : http://www.impulsedriven.com/about.asp (Install Impulse AND use serial above)
Serial number : xxxxx-xxxxx
Notice the Serial number field is missing from the recent (top) email response. This is the case for all couple of dozen things I should see serial numbers for. Repeated requests from the Impulse Client and the esupport link haven't netted any better results. Something is wrong, I think.
[Edited to add: I was able to piece together account info and serial numbers for what I needed from old emails and whatnot.]

I have recently purchased Command and Conquer 4, installed and cannot find my registration key. Tried everything in the this thread and have no solution. Whenever I get an email it has listed that I purchased the game and the serial field is blank.

I'm in the same boat as poster "o15o87" - the serial numbers that *both* the email support and Impulse keep giving me strange messages for my rejection - "old program serial number" is the most boggling, since I just renewed a very old subscription to Object Desktop and as far as I know I've never owned Deskscapes. I'm getting the same nonsense from some of the other OD programs. The majority were automatically activaed by Impulse - but several give me a pop-up to activate with email & serial. I've tried inputting both the serial from Impulse and from the spport email. No luck. This is my second day trying to activate.

I have tried all of these things. I still do not have settlers. Either the registration in my email, or the game showing up in impulse. Support sent me this BS link page that says:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ComponentManager]
Some help....

So... its been over 24 hours since I sent in a new trouble ticket (second one). No response from Stardock. Can I just assume I got robbed? Or is one of the tech guys actually going to fix my problem?

I am also looking for help in retrieving registration numbers, particularly the DLC code for Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition. The DLC item does not show up in the Impulse program, so there appears to be no way to look it up. It is listed in the registration dump email, but doesn't help me at all:
Product Name : Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate DLC
User Name :
Download : Register this code in-game to redeem content
"Register this code..." What code??

I just spent 49.95 of window blinds and downloaded impulse but it still tells me i have 28 days on my trail so what do i need to do to get the full version ?

You must have purchased ObjectDesktop which is a suite of programs and includes WindowBlinds as the WindowBlinds program alone doesn't cost $49.95.
Did you have the trial version of WindowBlinds installed? If so, uninstall it and reboot. Then install WindowBlinds through Impusle and reboot. This should fix your issue.

There should be a window that pops up when you go to install the game that has the code in it. If you right click on the game in Impulse, and select 'Show first run dialog', it should show it again. If something's not working, email [email protected].

Edit...nevermind...I went to the support page and was able to get my serial numbers from there.

I purchased DAO Ultimate and was never given the key for the DLC. I tried the automated email request for serials, and while it lists it there (as it does for the guy a few posts up) it never actually gives me the code.
I've got a ticket out there, but the response time on it has been pretty slow. I'm guessing the support folks are playing catch up after being out during the sales that were going on.
I'm curious if anyone knows a way for me to access that code without having to wait on the support ticket to come back.
Thanks.

Just got the below response.
"Hello,
If you right click on the game's entry in Impulse, and select 'Show first run info', a window will pop up with the serial number you need."
I'll try it when I get home. Posted here for anyone else that may run into a similar probleem.
Thanks

Impulse is not a scam. You need to be more specific on what doesn't work before anyone can try and help you.

In reality most serial numbers are not needed since Impulse will automatically install using them. In instances where you need to enter the serial in-game or to register with a 3rd party publishers website, the serial should be sent. If it's not, please e-mail [email protected] so we can get it sorted.

Reviewed this entire posting, same old problem. I have bought all 3 Sins of a Solar Empire and had the registration for all of them working fine. Went to update Diplomacy, it said i couldn't because Entrenchment's registration was invalid. The code was the same as before. I ran the fix file, and it ended up deleting my entrenchment registration code, even though it still shows under "My Games" on Impule. Pressing view serial does nothing, and it no longer shows up under registrations. Emails give no serial code, tried several retrieval links and everything in this post, including resetting data and reinstalling Impulse. I no longer ahve the serial, and I dont want to have to rebuy Entrenchment just so I can play Diplomacy.

You will need to email [email protected] and start a trouble ticket for them to see what the issue is. Please only submit 1 request as any others will only move your position in the response queue back.
Also, support are still working on the backlog of support requests so it may take several days for them to get back to you.

sumwar: It's registered to your account, so there's no problem on that side, and you shouldn't need your serial number to install the game. Try closing Impulse and running the following file:
http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_registrations.reg
Make sure to follow the link in Internet Explorer, as other web browsers will not handle the file type correctly. Once you follow the link, save the file and double click it to apply it. Then relaunch Impulse. You will need to re-login with your username/e-mail (either will work) and password.
If you do need the serial number, though, once the game shows up in the 'My Games' list, you can right click on the game, and select 'View Registration'.
