Problem with tiling per pixel window frame

Sunday, January 24, 2010 by k10w3 | Discussion: WindowBlinds Tutorials

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with a problem I'm having with my skins.  I don't know if it's an issue with Windowblinds, SkinStudio 7, or Windows 7, but if I create a skin where I want to tile horizontally the per pixel window frame, what comes out when I apply the skin is hacked up pieces of both the active and inactive windows mixed together, and some little chunks that aren't even from either of those windows, just solid colored pieces.  I've rebooted, ran CCleaner, cleaned my registry...nothing seems to fix this, and all things go back to normal if I stretch the frame, rather than tile.

Here's a picture of what's happening with the problems outlined in blue.

Any ideas on this?  It's not just this skin...I've applied other people's skins that use tiling of the per pixel window, too, and I'm getting the same thing.

That's because I had the titlebar stretching in that version...I thought I could improve on it by tiling it, instead.

BUMP -- Because now that it's Troll Thumping day, I see the same problem with the Troll Thumping Day Suite Windowblinds.

@gmc2: here are the details:

I found that the titlebar sizing margins where very wide, maybe that's the cause of the issues, I tweaked the margins to a smaller values and
set the tile checkboxes to make the tilling better (look the attached screenshot)

wow, thank you,

I have encountered this before and went the stretch route rather than attempt a "figure this out". don't think I've ever used a margin combination as shown. something to remember for frames and such that have this level of detail.

looking good Karen
