msi installer & no internet access (unless in safe mode)

Monday, January 4, 2010 by Richard Mohler | Discussion: Windows 7

Seems lately everytime I try to install something I get a window popping up saying can't find .msi & when I locate it and try it again it says it's invalid. Any suggestions?

If it helps, .msi stands for microsoft installer which really means windows installer.

Depending on what OS you're on, you may need to reinstall your Windows Installer. Search Microsoft for more info on how to install the latest version for your OS.

Here's a little more info on XP  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803/#troubleshooting

I did a repair with upgrade disc & now no matter what I do I can't get on the internet. Plus it says it isn't activated & also I think because of it not being activated the wallpaper always reverts back to plain black solid color when restarted...Can't get onto internet so can't reactivate it..Any suggestions? Really don't want to redo everything with a fresh install...Plus no internet access unless in safe mode..
