I need some XP testers
Monday, December 14, 2009 by k10w3 | Discussion: Skinning
My XP machine is on the fritz (it's super old; I can't even get it to boot in safe mode right now). I'm making this Riddler blind for my son. I'm not done with it yet, but I wanted to run it by somebody who has XP, so they can tell me where there might be errors or things that aren't working so I can adjust them before I go into the IE icons, etc. I uploaded it here:

Any help/comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Barb. I haven't skinned the "Turn off Computer" window yet -- I wanted to make sure I got the other stuff (taskbar, windows, start button) right before I went on. Is there any chance you can post a screen shot of the start button issues so I can track down exactly what the problem might be?

Karen, I sent a screenshot to you using the email you have posted in your home page. The site that I use for posting in forums, etc. is down, otherwise I would have posted it here. You should have mail now!!! I will hang around a bit longer to see if you do or not have the screenshot.

I fixed it -- the images were corrupt -- had to redo the entire animation. If you want to check it out, you can download it here:

I'm working on the Windows7 version now.

Yeah...I fixed the problem with the start button on XP, and skinned the throbber. My son's real happy with it. I'm not completely finished because I have to skin Vista and look over Win7 again -- if you want the latest beta to check for yourself, I uploaded it here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/dtmnaitrwwi/E. I re-named it, so it's more authentic to the comic book (don't know how many comic geeks we have here). I've kind of put it on the back burner until I'm finished with the Valentine's day WB.

I have it now and so far the only thing I found that *bothers* me is the start button. There are some white pixels on the left side that look like they don't belong... and is the center of the start button supposed to be a kind of pink? Love the mouse over action on the "?". You probably know the *turn off computer* window is blue...not that blue is bad, but it didn't seem to go with the green. Anyway, I hope this helps!! Thank you for letting us have a peek!!!
