User faking Stardock affiliation - SCAM Alert

Monday, September 10, 2001 by T-Man | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Some "person" is sending emails from a yahoo account purporting to be from Stardock in what appears to be a rather pathetic attempt to get your user name and serial number.

Please disregard any emails you receive like the following (See full story for email). This person is not affiliated with Stardock in any way.

Hehe, because being a Stardock member of staff, and knowing the email address of the customer you would really need their serial number !!

Ooops, I think we overcharged you. In order to correct this oversite I will need your Credit Card Number and expiration date so I can perform the chargeback.

don't worry. most of the people dumb enough to actually fall for it are the ones that can't figure out DX anyway and badmouth it in reviews.
