Attn. Neil Banfield: Issues with Skinstudio 7

Thursday, December 10, 2009 by 2of3 | Discussion: SkinStudio

1.

the text margins on the Windows 7 taskbar buttons. The right and left margins don't seem to have any effect at all. Look at how the icon and text overlap the details on each end of the button

Here's the same skin on Vista

2.

Win7 show desktop button: In order for the show desktop button to blend into the taskbar, one has to add the line: BackgroundEffect=1 to the code section. There should probably be something in the extra tab to check off instead of adding the code manually

3.

The IE tab close button does not work. The button stays default unless you skin the tooltip button. Then it will use that image

Of course this is the IE 7 tabs and close button, because the damn tabs aren't even skinned on IE8!

IE favorites menu remains unskinned.....it's still using the classic colors

I'm at a stand still skinning wise. I cannot finish my skins untill these issues get resolved

with the new update of sk7 i have the vertical checkbox. thanks for that, but im still finding i have to manually add 'perpixel=1' in just about all of the png parts.

group box header text still has to be edited in the codex to show the correct font.

That dialog uses a combo of group boxes with the classic color button shadow parts. I have come to ignore PS in regards to judging how my skins look. Photoshop CS3 skins like ass in any OS that's just the way it is

Group boxes have been doing that as long as I can remember, Photo shop has never skinned right in many areas.

As far as having to add Per Pixel 1 for Pngs, you might try saving your images as TGA's and not having SKS convert them to png to begin with.

The vertical checkbox never went anywhere.

As for your need to add perpixel = 1.  You should not need to do this if you have ticked that it uses transparency.  In testing this correctly updates when you change the image from BMP to tga etc.

If it is not working for you then I need to know exactly what you are doing to make it incorrectly change.

Reduced 94%Original 635 x 468

Go to "Edit buttons controls > Groupboxes > Header >> Extra settings tab >  Enable msstyle mode" turn that on.

okay, not sure why, but I never had the vertical checkbox when i first installed sk7, but no matter I have it again and thats the main thing.

When I import my images to sk, they are png format, , only sometimes I have to manually add perpixel=1. this dosent happen for everything that is png, only some bits, but enough to find it annoying. I always check the use transparency when I use a png image.

danillo, i tried what you said and yes that does work...but it changes the font back to default blue.......blah! ignore that comment,

I manually changed the font in the codex to the colour i wanted and that worked .

a tip for all...its great to push the logoff buttons around in win7 but be warned...I've already had a non-english user show me how it pushed the arrow off the start menu because the dang text takes up more room on the shutdown button than the english version.

This is the same problem we always had with the allprogs arrow trick...apparently that why MS aligned it so far left.

I would have to add 12 substyles to ecoLogical just to accomodate changing this one thing for the non english...or push them back on 2 styles to fix for everybody.

Guess which one is going to happen?

It seems as though the cs5 programs don't want to play well with WindowBlinds. I get this type of result from every skin I've tried thus far.
