Idea for RightClick rewrite (7 Jumplist)

Thursday, December 3, 2009 by c242 | Discussion: RightClick

As the official news say that RightClick will get some love and a rewrite, I would really like to see RC utilize the 7 jumplist. That would be a killer-feature. Something like JumplistLauncher just with the stardock appeal and skinnable.

A great idea and quite useful.  If I disabled the taskbar and just had an object dock zoomer, this would help complete the featureset.

in the W7 start menu you have items that will show an arrow on the right side.....if you click that arrow it will scroll out a list of the last several items you used that program for.....kinda like a program's recent list, however it includes commands executed, folders opened etc...

edit:

right click the taskbar icons shows it too...here's an example

The problem is You can only use JumpList Launcher with standard Aero. With WB enabled You get some 'not looking good' issues like with the look of the menu and the icon backgrounds not being transparent. And You can't do subfolders obviously. But no idea if that works with jumplists at all.

The icon backgrounds not being transparent appears to be a bug in JumpList Launcher itself rather than WB.  All the other jump lists such as the ones for explorer or IE show transparency in the icons without a problem.

Ignoring that issue, if the skin has provided jump list images the end result can look pretty nice.

Neil : I know it is not WB's fault.
