They will only create images which the operator will likely remark 'wow...look at that', however after the first hundred or thousand such submissions the Moderators will tend to push them to the personal pages unless they are something actually new and refreshing...or at least function well as a wallpaper....

Not the best way to endear yourself.

Use this an opportunity to exceed and excel. Work that didn't make it through moderation used to be rejected completely. I know. I had lots of stuff rejected. Ue this as an opportunity to perfect your craft.

Hey kittycat, you're lucky your walls even made it as far as moderation, through moderation, then to your personal gallery, some do not.

I made a couple of half-arsed attempts at doing walls but the upload coughed, spluttered and spat them out.

I only realised they were bad when Windows Picture Viewer kept spitting out a "Windows Picture Viewer has encountered a really bad piece of art and needs to close" message.  I realised they were really, really bad when Windows Picture Viewwr eventually refused to open them at all... returning the message: "The file you are attempting to open is quite nauseating and Windows Firewall has marked it as unsafe."

Seriously, though, mrs starkers has had quite a few of her walls go directly to her personal page, and yeah, she sometimes gets disheartened, but she keeps trying, in the hope that she'll improve and eventually make it to the front page.  Is her work good enough, yeah, I think so, and in my opinion some of her uploads could have/should have made it to the main gallery, but they didn't...  so it's back to the drawing board and try again.

Just a friendly piece of advice here!  Comments like these do not help one's... anyone's cause and should be avoided at all costs.  Some of the stuff that makes it to the main gallery is not necessarily my cup of tea, but it's all in the eye of the beholder, and what may not be so special to me is pretty darned good to others.  Do I comment when I don't particularly like something, no, absolutely not.  Budding/aspiring artists need to be encouraged (to try, to improve), not deterred, and even though your comment was generalised and named no-one in particular, it may still have a detrimental effect on anyone having self-doubt.

I'm not trying to shoot down the one that made it to the public gallery over hers, either...I just know sometimes wonder real hard why some things fly and others that are obvious of higher quality, don't.

Not much of my work goes to my personal gallery now but still once in a while it does and it just inspires me to create something much better than that and mostly the next upload is a fine one and it gets a good rating too !!

Also, kittycat670 its not that people don't checkout your personal gallery, I believe they do and also download the skins. For eg. just visit my gallery here and checkout the second skin there " Light Trans II- Hybrid dream" , it did'nt make upto the main dream gallery but a few people who like my dreams have downloaded it !!

So do not get dishartened and just enjoy what we all wanna....Skinning

Thank you all for your comments and from now on i will just create and enjoy doing it.

That's the go, do what you want because you enjoy doing it... because you like it.  If others like it, too, that's a bonus.

yes I have to agree  with everyone here, I too get dishartened  and I know I shouldnt but I do  and then I pick myself up and Keep on going cos I  skin for me first and if others like it then thats a huge plus for me
