Netscape is dead

Netscape just announced that they're out of the browser business.

Reading the article it sounds like they're still going to be a browser, they're just trying to call attention to some other stuff they're doing in conjunction with TW/AOL. Pure advertising hype.

Fittingly though, when I first opened the article it crashed IE on my computer brought down the whole deal, closing every window that was open - pretty funny...

Seems like the marketing bobo's are just rephrasing their mission statements. Ergo, they are not out of the browser business (and that's good, for it will be a cold day in Hell before I switch over to IE and its merry band of sheep).

Netscape: The story of a great idea gone horribly wrong. Why the heck did AOL buy them if they were not going to support or use it?

Truth be told, Netscape has been "out of the browser business" for years now. I can't imagine how many $$$ were spent creating NS 6.0.
