Right click and drag to create fence not working
Saturday, November 21, 2009 by StartledLemon | Discussion: Fences
I have Fences v1.00.2787 installed on my Windows 7 Ultimate RTM x86 laptop. Fences has been working perfectly for some months until earlier this week when ability to right-click and drag to create a fence stopped working for me. Now, if I right-click on the desktop and drag, no rectangle is drawn, and when I release the mouse button I just see the usual desktop menu appear, with no option to create a new fence.
So, I've got ~30 icons on my desktop and no fences. The icons disappear and re-appear on double-clicking (so some of the Fences functionality is there), but I cannot create a Fence.
I e-mailed in the debug report earlier in the week but haven't had a response yet. Hence my trying this forum.
One thing I have noticed is that I don't have Impulse installed. Does Impulse have to be installed for Fences to have full functionality? If so, can I just download Impulse separately?
Regards,
/Neil

No, Fences functions are independent of Impulse. I'd say you have another issue going on, though I don't know what that would be. Sorry.
However, you could try uninstalling the Fences standalone, installing Impulse and redownloading/installing Fences that way. I can't say this is your answer but it's worth a try.

I'm having the same problem and I'm using Win XP Home SP3. I am currently using the free version and was about to buy the Pro version but found that both versions are supposed to allow unlimited Fenses. I do have impulse installed so it would appear that Impulse is not an issue. It seems that this is a problem with Fenses not any particular op sys.

Try to use left-click and drag your mouse:)
I met the same problem as yours. And I believe the designer considered that "right-click and drag" normally is used as selection. Now it is better. The only problem is that they forgot to revise the introduction.
