DREAM vs Screen Savers

As someone thought of this?

Saturday, November 7, 2009 by Tammy1234 | Discussion: Animated Wallpapers

Just an idea...

Has anyone come up with a screen saver, that uses Dreamscape files?

It just makes sense as a concept... if you like a particular DREAM file enough - why not use it as a screen saver.

I don't know if this is even possible but would love to find out that such a tool is out there.

Try DreamScreenSaver.  It uses the currently running dream as a screen saver.

One problem...  security protocols on my machine keep me from running DreamScape.... that's why I am looking for a way to use DREAM files through a screen saver.

CarGuy, you mean the update to Dream Manager?  Dream Manager does work as a changer, but as I have found out that the upgrade from 2.5 to the 3 beta did not correctly setup the registry settings need to double click on a dream in explorer to launch it.  I had to uninstall deskscapes, then reinstall it for the double-clicking to work and thus make Dream Manager work.

While switcing does work, there are some other things I'm working on in Dream Manager that are not working, like it does not correctly detect the dream that is currently running.

Anyway, I hope to have an update soon.

Cheers,

MB

I make screen savers (umm 40 plus) and I have just started making dreams after going through the tutorials...They are 2 totally different programs, both in creation and in the end user experience.

In my opinion the artist should do both.

I guess that means I have to start doing screen savers.

Wait a minute...I don't use screensavers.

I just don't get it.  When you can run a dream, what is the point of a screensaver?

Since I have had this Win7 system I hardly run savers now (although I do love Lagoon the touchscreen screen saver by Microsoft Surface).

The Saver should compliment the Dream file. It is my understanding that dreams run on the desktop (the workspace) so the animation should be slow, consistent, and not interfering with the workspace.

I was told once..."A good dream should give you the "feeling" of movement without it making you stop what you are doing to watch it."

Screen savers are entertaining and to screen saver users they can be an escape from the workspace.

Or have someone else do them.

Dreams and Screensavers serve different purposes !!

btw if you are using my dreams, you can find many of the scr's for them as well, though not all of them

I would imagine Screen savers are handy for work environments when you need to leave your machine Locked, but dont want to close up your work in progress and log out.
