destructive comments
Thursday, November 5, 2009 by Vampothika | Discussion: Community
I would like to post my distaste to recent comments on my master skin Saboteur. Calling my work "not master skin quality" is below the belt. Especially when it is a drive by comment and the skin has not even been downloaded.
I think if you are going to comment on any skin, it should be at least downloaded and tested before inacurate comments and assumptions are made.
I personally believe that if you have nothing constructive to say about a skin, then please say nothing at all.
I spend many weeks and hours on every skin I do. I pour passion, talent, and knowledge into them. They are tested in every possible way that a skin can be tested, and only then is it submitted. The same goes for cursors, icons, and any matching accessory I make.
I can handle criticism, but only if it is constructive, and accurate based on the downloading of the skin itself.

It was never clarified even when I asked there.
Yes. Quite. I am turning over a new leaf.

I thought about the possible consequences of using "Beaver Patrol", but I knew that you guys wouldn't do anything like these quotes, so I went ahead, knowing that it was safe to do so.

On a much more important note.... Look what you people have gone and done... I am so disappointed... between this thread and the Softpedia crap you all have made Po turn serious in to many posts...
I like it when he's serious--the Softpedia article was very well written and the situation was explained with great clarity. Look at it this way--you get two for one.

Do you know the difference between being funny and a total asshat?
Ofcourse, sometimes being an asshat IS funny, the interesting thing is that some people think that means it's ALWAYS funny.
I'm not pointing a finger at anyone, if you feel insulted or singled out by this, you really should read your posts and figure out why you feel the way you do. You're your own judge.

HOWEVER,
at the same time, Vampothika, again, I think your original post in this thread was rather sad.
As several people have pointed out, you need to grow a thicker skin.
In that aspect, you need to be a little like Messiah, and not care what anyone says about you.
Do what you do, if people want to post what are in your opinion, distasteful remarks, let 'em.
In one ear, out the other, or in the case of an Internet Forum, in one eye, out the other.

EDIT: While I agree with what has been stated in the selection above, I hold the opinion that it is often more beneficial when critiquing art that 1) one hold a bit of knowledge as to what goes in to producing such art, and 2) that it often is taken more positively when you shed light on specific areas that one may deem in need of improvement, i.e. "you might try to implement more lighting in this area", "adding texture to this area would be a good idea", etc. Again, however, this is the internet. If people want to say, "This sucks. The End," they should be free to do so. Let their lack of competence speak for itself.

... now reading his posts is like buying tickets to see Jeff Dunham and his dummys and then having him come out on stage and announce that he is going to spend the evening reading Shakespeare.
This is the visual I get from that sentence. Jeff Dunham with Achmed the Dead Terrorist saying: To be, or not to be...I KILL YOU!!!
