How do you do this with ObjectDock

Monday, October 12, 2009 by El_Squiddo | Discussion: New Users

I was looking at skins today and I ran across this screenshot of an author's desktop.  I dont understand how it is done. How do you get OD to display the arc of icons beneath My computer (I presume they're documents, pictures, music, etc.).

I can get the k-tek discs background, just not the arc of icons.

thanks

Leave your cursor on the weather icon (or whichever you have stacked) and press Control + Print Screen. Then Paste it in Paint. Voila.

Hi El Squiddo!

That feature there is called a fly-out which gives your selected folder this display.

If you own the full version of Object Dock then this feature is available to you under ADD \ New Custom Flyout Menu.

Here's an old shot of mine with an open flyout

Listen to the Master....Cplair.

I thought you had Object Dock Plus and didn't know how to make the screenshot with the fly out open. Sorry.

Wow, so I've obviously been using OD for years without even checking out all of the options I guess.

Now if only the "Display open windows" function were multi-monitor aware...

thanks a bunch

For that all you need is a single flyout set for My Computer JSpencer!

Pretty cool, huh?

Thanks Cplair for the answer to his question.

thanks a bunch

El Squiddo and JSpencer you're both more than welcome.

Give the Flyout feature a try and hit either me or Doc back here and let us know how it's going or if you have any other questions about it.

May I suggest a simple one for starters such as a flyout to your desktop?  Once you create one, you can hide all of the icons on your desktop.  You won't need to see them any more, it's all in the flyout.

And remember this, the bigger the volume in a flyout, the longer it takes to populate before it cascades.

You're both veterans at WC so you know what to do.

Good luck Dudes!

You could also try the Stacks Docklet. I like this way better.

Flyouts are good, too. Just depends on what you like.
