Fences comes with impulse ???????

I just downloaded the latest Fencess .99 thinking it had the date fix,
and it was wrapped with this Impulse program.
My question is ," How and where do I find just the Fences program"
I do NOT want anything to do with Impulse.

Hi Anglepoise,
Impulse is included with Fences for the purpose of installing and updating the program, and it installs nothing on your system that causes negitive effects. Nothing about Impulse starts up with your system or gets in your way in any way. So I guess a question I have, is what is the feeling that you have about Impulse that makes you not want it so bad?

Not entirely true.
From the Impulse Page:
"Impulse includes a feature called ImpulseNow that starts when Windows loads. You will notice the Impulse icon (tray applet) in your System Tray (systray), located in the lower, right-hand corner of your monitor next to the clock. (Unless you changed the location of your Task Bar.) ImpulseNow checks with the Impulse server for software updates and gives you quick access to the features of Impulse in a compact form."
It can be disabled, but the default is for it to run on startup.

Right, as Zubaz notes, the Fences installer (along with any other freeware/shareware installers we distribute) has been specifically created to not have any of the components such as ImpulseNow be "on" by default. Pretty much the only effects are 10-20MB in your program files directory and a shortcut in the start menu.

I'm an OD subscriber and when I install Impulse it installs Impulse Now and is enabled.
Won't the same thing happen with people who install Impulse just to download Fences?
I'm just curious how that works.
But they have to install Impulse and that turns on Impulse Now. Is the Impulse install for an OD subscriber different than an Impulse install for a non-subscriber who just wants to get Fences?

Hi boss,
Correct, those are two different things. Impulse Now is intended to be a service for customers, as a disablable feature that helps keep your applications up to date, since many people have subscriptions to our software and as such have interest in keeping them up to date with the latest versions to get the most out of their subscription. Similar with games, where for multiplayer games you often need to keep your copy absolutly up-to-date in order to play online multiplayer. Hoping you don't mind it, but if you do I'm also hoping you found it easy to disable.
At any rate, when someone installs Fences, a small installation of Impulse is put down with it. This is because to streamline our procedures & processes, Impulse now does the actual "installing" of all of our programs, whether or not you see it actually doing the work. It also provides the handy functionality of detecting and providing updates. However, since many users won't even realize Impulse has been installed because its used here primarilly behind-the-scenes only to install the one application they requested, we don't want to give them the impression that we're "loading their system with stuff they didn't want", and so we disable Impulse Now by default when Impulse is installed during a Fences installation. (Beyond Impulse Now, Impulse has no processes that load/interact with the system in any way when it is not running.)
