V O X wb - WIP

crank it up

Tuesday, August 25, 2009 by vStyler | Discussion: Community

As some of you know my other passion is music, singing, recording, producing etc.. recently after doing a bit of work inside my audio\studio apps I thought it might be cool to do a blind with similar stylings, techy controls, backlit with lots of glow , a look that says ..audio.

Just started last night.. hope you guys will appreciate my vision on this project.

and WOM.. yes, its a Master skin.

Using Native Instruments Traktor Pro

Ooo.. I have used Traktor in the past, Its a great app, some NI app\instrument interfaces in the past have not been to my liking but the new Traktor Pro looks to be a step in the right direction.

Image-Line Deckadance has a phenomenal looking ui, if you haven't checked it out yet have a look.

I don't really do any DJ'ing per se but I do use it occasionally to mix things up when we're partying.

Nice site by the way, was tuned in for a while earlier... throw some Lily Allen in the mix

Have tried Deckadance, no 'native' broadcasting in there and Traktor supports my personal worklflow better. And as I have bought Traktor no need to spend another couple of bucks.

This is much more to your style......

the last 2-3 skins have been a bit boring (but well made)

Looking good so far..

I prefer minimally stylish, fact is.. more people prefer less graphically intensive themes for daily use so thats what I tend to design.

Moving right along, here's a mockup of some more sections, nothing is set in stone and subject to change.. I would like to do a light and dark version of this theme even though it's quite a bit more time consuming, I just think a completely dark version would kick ass but of course WB doesn't fully support completely dark skins.. so.. if I do, I'll also make a more usable light version as well. In which case the windows will be light\white as opposed to the current look.

The title buttons I spent a while on, designed to emulate power switches, they have a totally cool pressed \ action, might be my fav. ever buttons.

Will start assembling the WB today

In the darker version (or wherever you choose, if you choose) perhaps a touch of grey in the blue start menu to mute it a tad?

Just a suggestion...and certainly not a criticism...in my everyday themes I like 'quieter' colors, but that's just me.

...but that would take away from the electricity of it...
