This is not to be construed as an anti-SD post. To me, this is an interesting situation for which there probably is some sort of solution.
I'm running Vista Home Premium 32 bit, and wanted to download Teak7 to burn on a disk/Archive with Impulse but got notification "The Software Is Incompatible With Your OS" (see screenies below).

While that's correct, I should still be able to download/Archive it since come 10/22 I'll be getting Windows 7.
Any thoughts?
Seems to me that either I'm entitled to it or not. I don't want to install it now, but after upgrading to W7, I might wish and opt to do so.
I'd like to believe (and do) that SD will make whatever version I'm entitled to available to me whenever (and I don't wish ever to stop with customizing through SD) but, it seems to me that SD is deciding something for me which I'm capable of deciding for myself (sort of like MS and it's Update Machine). I mean, I'm not stupid enough to try to install it on Vista (I have TweakVista already!).
Seems to me that there should be an option to "Archive Without Installing" and a choice as to where.
Thus we come to my sutitle: Please share your thoughts with me.

I can't speak for Tweak7 specifically, but that is put in place so people cannot download something that is not compatible with their current system. Case in point, BootSkin. People were downloading it on Windows 7 and it was not compatible.

I don't understand why (if I'm entitled to something through purchase) I can't download it and store it where I wish.
I'm concerned that if I haven't downloaded it, and upgrade to a different OS, I won't be allowed to do so in the future.
BTW..
General Notice:
People should read and understand the system requirements before downloading and trying to install any software.

If you let your subscription run out you should still be able to get the versions you were intitled to by emailing support.

CG...I know, it's in my OP...BUT will I be able to if I never downloaded it? It's sort of a moot point. If I have to sell and organ (or piano) the sub ain't running out...

True. Some are. So, one has to make the world and everything in it safe for people who don't read directions? I guess that's the reason for this sign:
If you're saying SD does it that way to prevent lawsuits based on the well known current legal principle: "I was too stupid to read, so I get a pass and someone else has to pay." Then your Honor: I object! I understand, but I object.
The last thing in the world I'd want to witness is a lawsuit based on that, or SD getting hurt in any way as I stated the OP. That would be unconscienable. That being said, there's something to say for Darwin Awards for those who don't care enough to read instructions.

The amusing part is that - currently - Tweak7 is exactly the same program as TweakVista (which is why it free to prior owners), and you should even be able to move a currently-updated copy of TweakVista to a Windows 7 machine and have it work as Tweak7, or vice versa. This may be a solution for those in this situation until we figure out a solution to downloading and archiving copies that are not for that operating system. Note that this is not an officially supported method of installing Tweak7.
(Tip: You may want to run Tweak7.exe /install at a command prompt after copying the files.)
(Bonus tip: This should even work for XP, though features not available on that operating system will be disabled. TweakVista/7 is entirely unsupported on XP.)

The same thing occurs with the free My Colors and My Colors Suites on Windows 7. I would have liked to download the suites, rename them to .zip, and use the individual skins.
But Impulse won't let me download because they are incompatible with Win 7.
Fortunately, I dual boot with Vista also, so I downloaded them from Vista and transferred the skins to my Win 7 partition where they work fine.
A bit of a hassle, but it works.
