I noticed earlier this week that Nero has released a free version of their Nero 9 software. I had tried Nero 7 and 8 in the past and found them full of programs that I'd never use. Rather bloated and slow so I reinstalled Nero 6 and everything was fine. Well, the other day, I saw that Nero had bought out a free version of 9 and I tried it on my Windows 7 machine and I must say I'm quite impressed. It only carries tools for burning and copying........but thats all I want so if you are looking for a basis cut down version of Nero........its available.......and free from Nero on the link below.

Many knowledgeable and creditable tech friends of mine use one of two utility programs to keep their machines lean and mean. Either TuneUp Utilities 2009 or jv16 Power Tools. I noticed today that Macecraft have bought out a cut down version jv16 for free. If you're in the market for something to keep your machine speedy and clean it could be something worth considering. I tried the Power Tools lite. It wanted to get rid of quite a few registry entries for Vue 7 Xtreme, one of my most used programs. And I had it on the recommended setting, not the higher ones that say to use with caution.
Unstalled it, I'll take a pass... ![]()

Fortuitous...and timely...
I was literally just in the throes of getting a 30% discount on an upgrade from essentials 7 ....the OEM stuff bundled with the burners...to the full ver of '9'....and now I can play with the '9 essentials' instead..... and still got a week to take up the discount offer...
