Desktopx objects question

Thursday, July 9, 2009 by greatbodini | Discussion: Object Desktop

So ya... Im still new to all this stuff.. can some one please tell me how to keep objects to stay on my desktop? Instead of having to reopen them every time i turn on my computer. Or do i need to have an actual theme with the objects intergrated into it.

Right click on the DX icon in the tray, choose "configure DesktopX", go to the preferences tab and check "run automatically when Windows starts".

R-click on the widget and open Properties. Check "Run Automatically when Windows Starts"

If I would have known you were going to answer, I would have just shut up, because you're much more of an expert on DesktopX than I am.

Ya if you have any objects loaded up and save the desktop, it will save the objects within the desktop.  A desktop is a collection of the objects.  It won't save the widgets, the widgets are separate little programs, you can see an instance of dxwidget running in Task Manager for each widget you have running.

Since you're new to this and we're talking about it I'll throw this out too: generally speaking, you want to load the widgets by double-clicking on them, using a shortcut, or whatever just as you would any other program.  You don't usually want to use the DTX builder-mode "Import" window to load them up unless you are trying to edit them, sometimes they won't run right (conflicts and such).
