There is a handy little utility called Installed Codec by NirSoft that will let you see what you have installed and disable/enable them one at a time to see if you have a conflict.  LINK

Glad it worked for you.

Codec problem is solved with that. Do u have latest drivers for your gfx card. Update them if not.

What media players have u installed?

If your going to run a codec pack, you should only run one. Do not install multiple packs as it only causes problems.

What version of Vista? Ultimate and Home Premium come with a mpeg codec that works great. All other version will require you to install one.

If your running Ultimate or Home premium, more than likely you have a codec causing a conflict. Use Installed codec as Wizard suggested and disable any that appear to be a mpeg codec that is not supplied by Microsoft. Ulead, Nero 7, and Techsmith codecs have caused stutter on my machine.

If you would like some assistance in figuring it out, take a screen shot of your codec list, post it here or PM it to me and I'll be happy to see if I can help. I've fought this a few times and know how frustrating it can get. Kinda hard to feel comfortable posting a dream you've made when your not sure if it will stutter on other peoples machine.

Thanks CarGuy1 , but when i run the program to ck codecs

it now says there is 294 of them , all posted below ...

Now my problem seems to be mostly viewing my Dreams

your dreams and some others are playing good so far , just the

ones i made and not the earlier ones but the latest ones made in

the past 6 months since i did a re set on my computer - very odd it is

yea i make dreams and post not really knowing what you guys

end up with , but i don't have people complaing that they are bad..

I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio to make most of my Dreams ...

gonna try simple movie maker next i think and keep them smaller file ..

I run vista home premium 32-bit (other pc stats above)

WOW, that's quite a few codecs.

I figure you need all of the media programs you have installed, but if you don't use all of the Roxio stuff, I would trim that install down some.

I suggest disabling the codecs I outlined in red. The programs that installed them should still run fine since they will default to the Microsoft MPEG2 codec that came with Home Premium. Choose a static wallpaper and reboot after you disable them then try a dream once it boots back up.

By the way...did I mention you have a lot of codecs loaded?
