Visiting the WinCustomize Community
Sunday, April 5, 2009 by Philly0381 | Discussion: OS Customization
If you are new or an old hand at customizing your desktiop I wonder if you know that there is a big community out there. Really, there is. ![]()
I've only been at this a short time, here since Nov '04 but only started participating in the community in Apr '07 when I uploaded my first ScreenShot to the WC Library. It took awhile even after that to realize that there were other sites you could go to and get skins that worked with the Stardock programs to customize your desktop. Now that I've move on to making Theme Manager Suites for the Themes that we have here I've become much more aware of the WinCustomize Community.
If you want to see a list of the WinCustmize Community just head over to the WC Home page and click on Help, then click on Community. Under Community Links click on Community Site Index and a you will see a list of WinCustomize Comminity with descriptions and links. You might just want to click this link: https://www.wincustomize.com/community.aspx There are probably more then what are shown.
Pay a visit to the sites, the ones that I have checked out have free registration which gives you access to all kinds of stuff. When you go to these sites and registrer and start looking around you are going to see a lot of familar names that you have seen when you looked through the WC Libraries. One I know for sure, Skinning.net, even has an IRC channel where you can ask questions and get help, and forums.
So folks go out there and visit, spread some kindness and love in the community. The sites and community need your support.![]()
If you run one of the sites in the WinCustomize Community now would be a good opportunity to let the rest of us hear from you, let us know what you are up to, maybe like what projects you are working on. ![]()

My site is in the list also ![]()
I've been working on a relaunch for about 2 years now, not each day, but every once in a while. I made about 9 different designs but now i'm pretty sure what the next one is going to be
(I tend to change a lot). Unfortunally the amount of visitors has dropped quite a bit and not that many people are active in ways of commenting on skins and newsitems
. Make's me feel a bit sad after all the time i've put into it the last 5 years. So the relaunch will be more focussed on more activity (such as a build in forum), but also much faster loading/compatibility and ofcourse a LOT of new features
. There's still a lot to do, but i'm hoping to get a beta online within 2 or 3 months. I really have high hopes for it... wish me luck ![]()
People who are reading this have the scoop, this preview has not been posted yet.
I know its a reeaaaalllly small image, but I don't want to give away too much just yet. ![]()
