document jumps out of fence
Sunday, March 22, 2009 by cossack1 | Discussion: Fences
It seems that when i use exel or word documents - they then jump out of the fence and move to to top left corner - i have unchecked all alignment options for the desktop and find this a bit frutrating since otherwise the program is really good -
any ideas??

As a workaround for the time being, store the documents themselves in My Documents, (just Documents if you're using Vista) then create a shortcut to that document.
[right-click] > Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) -- then drag the shortcut to a fence
Theorhetically, when you open the document, it won't matter what Word/Excel does, becuase the shortcut will always be pointing at the file of the same name. It shouldn't 'jump' anymore, because the shortcut itself doesn't change at all.
@JMB1984: Maybe that inspires a way to remedy the problem on your end?
Best of luck,

Like some "Document Dogs" to keep those docs in check.
Have 'em roaming around herding up the docs.

Will be addressed in a future release... will a couple months til we get back to it though so sit tight for now!
The problem revolves around the fact that when saving files, Word/Excel actually create a second copy of the document, delete the previous copy and then rename the second (new) copy to the original filename. We have to add some extra smarts to Fences to detect this! Thanks.
