WinUtilities 6.4 Free

Many Community members already avail themselves of "Give away of the day". For those who don't know about it, this is just a notice that the site really does exist and the software really is free. Not all of it is worth it, but occasionally a good one comes around.

Many folks can't afford to buy the stuff they feel they would under other circumstances, especially in these hard times.

Sooo....if you need a good set of utilities (probably not the best on Earth...but who's looking a gift horse in the mouth?), head on over and download it. Bookmark the site....you never know what they'll offer!

*Don't forget to open it and register it as soon as you can, because the deals usually require that within 24 hours (from the time the deal was offered, not from the time of downloading).*

Today they're offering WinUtilities 6.4:

"WinUtilities is an award winning collection of tools to optimize and speedup your system performance. This suite contains utilities to clean registry, temporary files on your disks, erase your application and internet browser history, cache and cookies. You can control startup programs that load automatically with windows, find duplicate files, fix broken shortcuts and uninstall unneeded software."

"Other features include secure file deletion, recycle bin shredding, cleaning tasks scheduling and undelete deleted files."

Are you kidding Doc?

I can't get enough utilities if it means making my puter more efficient.

OH!  And it's free too?  In contrast I paid $50 for the Tune-up Utilities 2009 package.

I'm running over there right now to see what I can see.

Thanks for always looking out for us Doc, I'll let you know what I find.

I've looked at the site before and they do give away some useable programs, except I usually all ready have a program doing the same thing or it's one for functions that I wouldn't use.

Having said that I still check it every now and then.  Yeah I now if I don't check it everyday I could miss something.

give away of the day can be a very useful site, except when they insist on giving away converter after converter after converter.

winutilities was one of the more useful offerings they have had in recent times but to be honest a lot of what they give away is out and out garbage. Game giveaway of the day is another useful site and the ocassional gem of a game is offered but be prepared again to wade through a ton of crap trying to spot the diamond in the rough.

Absolutely true, Nimbin. A good warning I alluded to in the first sentence of the OP.

Caveat Emptor.

lol that's what a lot of spyware products say about themselves. .. not that everything on that site has spyware, they have decent stuff, it's just me, I don't trust that anything is completely free.. there's always... a price.

Give away of the day is a great site. I go there just about every day. I've gotten some great stuff from there. About this one: It is a pretty good program but like with any of these sort of programs, and especially when it comes to the registry, proceed with the upmost caution. If you screw up the registry bad enough say good night. Backup Backup Backup.

I wouldn't touch a piece of software that didn't make a backup before changing the Registry, in fact, I back mine up every day to my ext. HDD.
