It would be more of a favor rather than a submission.  This will also keep any issues with permissions and copyrights to none.

If you try to post it, then it has to be according to the rules.  And I think this is where this conversation gets confused.

So if I want a picture of Pam Anderson's rack on my desktop, I can copy, paste and layer all day. 

But if I want to share it at WinCustomize with the rest of the community, then MsAnderson may have something to say.

With this in mind maybe a favor between friends would be the simpler thing to do.

i bet you can use the official seals without much of an issue. i remember tsf made a set of media player skins a few years back that was us military themed. they were quite well done, too.

As far as I understand as long as the Items in question were honoring the specific branch of service, there would be no issue. Only when an item is derogatory or demeans the subject would it be rejected, "not barring other moderation specifics like quality.etc.".

Tho the images used would have to be original fan art made to emulate any branches insignia, Images from Official sites would fall under Copyright protection.

Oh and there is no such thing as a former,ex Marine.... one is simply a "Marine of inactive status"

Whenever this topic is mentioned, I get the feeling everybody knows all this stuff which I have no idea about (major d'oh moment).

Im not sure if there is an Updated set of doc's for public consumption on the specifics of moderation. Keep in mind each gallery has specifics for moderation, that fit with the type of skin being moderated.

Wallpaper for example is moderated including but not limited to asthetics,utility as a desktop wall,copyrights....

Where such as a widget, needs clean coding,"no malicious stuff added",asthetics,if it actually works as intended,copyrights,etc...

Of all the criteria for moderation,Lack of proper permission for ports and broken skins are the two most prevalent issues most rejections have, they either use copyrighted images without proper permissions or dont work correctly, if at all.

Read here for more info..Tho these are the basics, moderation takes other factors in to consideration as they arise.
