Need help applying applications

Saturday, February 21, 2009 by DanielUnder | Discussion: Windows Vista

Hey guys... I am new to this site and am trying to figure out how to apply some of the stuff I downloaded from here... For instance the skins/themes... When I open up the downloaded file it tells me to choose a file to open it with, and I dont know how to open it to apply the downloaded skin?! For instance I downloaded the Chameleon_DX.desktop skin. When I click on it, it says windows cannot open this file?!! WHat program should I use to open it with and apply it?? I am using windows vista ultimate 64-bit. Thanks much in advance.

You need Desktopx for the DX themes to work, do you have that installed?

When you download a theme/skin you will see a description of the program needed to apply it at the top of the page. There are also links to downloading the application.

Here is a tutorial about applying skins: A "New Users" guide to Applying Skins

This is a pinned post at the top of the New users section of the forum.

,

That is your issue, your Stardock.net account does not list anything other than Dream files. You need the software installed first to use the theme/skin you downloaded.
