Impulse download
Sunday, February 1, 2009 by FlutePlayer | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Hello,
I am a little confused on Impulse. On the Impulse web page....what is the difference between the Alternate Downloads.... Impulse Client--Web Installer and the Impulse Client--Full? I also don't have Microsoft NET Framwork installed on my pc and really don't want to. So will one of the alternate downloads work without installing NET Framwork? Thank you.
Windows XP SP2
Using SDC.

Hi Zubaz,
I am not sure what NET framework is all about. I don't play any games that require Impulse. I use SDC to update my Stardock software (WindowBlinds....Curxor XP....etc). Don't want anything on my pc that does not need to be there. I'll look more into NET framework and see what it is all about.....then decide what to do. Many thanks for the information about Impulse and needing NET to be able to run Impulse.
I just renewed my Object Desktop Ultimate subscription and was hoping it would update thru SDC.....which it did.
One more question......when I decide to download Impulse......which Impulse download should I use? The main download or one of the alternate ones? Still not sure what the alternate downloads mean.
Many thanks.

I use and reccommend the Impulse client from here: Impulse Client - Full
Basically, the .Net framework is a library of code that developers can use. It's standard so you know how to call it and how it's going to execute. It allows apps to call the framework instead of re-writing the wheel for every app.
It's all good.

Nope....and it doesn't matter cause impulse won't load anyway. What a waste of $$$$$$$, and time. They need to get their sh*t together!

More specific information would likely get you some answers as to why you are having problems getting Impulse to load. What OS are you running? Are you getting an error message? If so, what is it?

It sounds like Impulse is having trouble connecting to our servers. This can be caused by extra 'security' apps, like SpyBot, AdAware and the like. Even some anti-virus applications can have their own 'spybot' functions, and Firewall settings.
Check your system (SysTray) for any of these 'watcher' type programs and try to turn them off, then launch Impulse and see if it connects.
If it still fails, run the file below and copy & paste the results into an e-mail to [email protected];
Follow this link in Internet Explorer (any other Browser will not work):
http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/enumerate_startup.bat
Save the Batch file, run it, and copy & paste the text from the log file it generates on the desktop into a support ticket.

Impulse needs the .net framework to run. So , no, none of the alternate versions will help.
Why don't you want .net?
