Need Iconpackager help!

Tuesday, January 27, 2009 by Chilinmichael | Discussion: Object Desktop

I install IconPackager.  I know previously there have been statements that IconPackager makes your Razer icon on the taskbar disappear, that has been stated before but posts of it I don't find with search for some odd reason.  Another thing now I noticed with the newest build, half my icons went blank.  Link points to the right icon, it should work, but doesn't.  Does stardock actually look to correct these known issues or we just going to ignore them?  The razer issue has been well documented and going on since version 3.  Anyone have a tutorial to make Iconpackager actually work right and not make half my icons disappear? I messed around with the settings to no avail.  I uninstall Iconpackager, reboot, and everything is fine.  So obviously Iconpackager is the culprit.

Apply the icon pack twice.  What happens?

Just installed the latest version and, as with the previous one, all icons on the Start Menu associated with MS revert to the default icon of the skin; in this case Diamond.  Reverted to the last one known to work!  Running XP Pro SP3 with 2Gb of RAM.

Yup, most icons were going default!  Good job Stardock.  How about addressing that ongoing issue with the Razer Icon that's been happening since version 3???

Instead of doing that, let's make LESS icons work, good testing.

If your Icons have turned 'white' and you have already uninstalled IP;

Please access your System Registry (XP - Start-> Run, Vista - WinKey +R) and in the run box type regedit. Then go to the following Key;

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shellex\IconHandler

On the right side of the screen, if it has a value of {611AD258-4138-4348-A534-9856FA6BA398} you need to rename that registry key from  'IconHandler' to something else, IconHandlerX works.
Then reboot your PC and the default Icons should come back.
