Got rid of the issue of leads all over the place by getting a laptop and a wireless printer, wireless external drive for backups, wireless mouse and finally a wireless router

Now i can just sit on my sofa and do all the things in comfort that i used to have to do at the desk. Plus i have no wire issues at all as most of the drives etc are all inside my cupboard under the stairs.

Except for one thing:

I have a laptop with Wireless/Wifi networked peripherals, and Bluetooth every thing else. Only one power cord for the Laptop. Will up a Pic as soon as I clean my work area..

Nope. I charge up the battery during the day when i am at work. Bag and lead are behind said sofa so both are out od sight. Battery life on the laptop tends to be round the hour and a half even when playing GCII. If it does run low i just grab the lead and run it round the edge and into the machine. I can cope with one cable once in a while

But, I can't say mine is any better.

Unless you want to make pretty, you just run the cables to the outlets as you hook them up and make do. Seems like that is what most of us do.

And really, how often do you need to trace or change a certain cable anyway? And if you bundle them all together, then you have to unbundle them to find that certain one.

And bundling has its own disadvantages. If one is damaged and has a short, being in a tight bundle will only make it more likely to cause a fire.

Ha, yes, those *other* cables. Inside the case would be another thread.

I can't take a pic right now, no flash in this stupid phone, but it's similar to this. .. and my power pack is almost 2 feet long.

Here's mine.  As you can see from the photos, I've tried to tie up any extra lenghts of cable and keep them off the floor where possible.  It all starts under the desk:

The middle tower is an APC Back-Ups RT 2000VA.  All the computer equipment in my living room is plugged into it, and I actually have enough to push it over its load limit if I turn everything on.  A shot from behind the boxes:

I pulled the frontmost box out a bit for a better view.  You can see the tracks on the dust, which indicate I failed to vacuum from behind them.  I shall rectify the situation after making this post.  Moving to the top of the desk, some network equipment:

My local computer superstore sells even more colors of network cables.  The thing with the wire mesh cover is my firewall/router box.  It does not contain any moving parts, and gets rather warm.  Still, it's served me for more than three years now.  Next, some cables behind my main displays:

The computers down there are not in use right now, I've just put them there to be out of the way.  Both are in a good working condition though.  They also serve as a handy platform for the extension cord.

I have more cables than you, mr. topic poster, apparently.   Mine is a mesh of wires.   I have even more than normal I think because I run my video game consoles (Wii, PS3) and cable though my computer and/or monitor.

Those belkin surge protectors have some wall mounting holes on the back of them I would try mounting them just under the wood part of your desk then plug your stuff in and cable tie off the slack, you will still see the cables however they will in a nice bundle very tidy looking!

P.S. Just don't get the cable ties to tight!

I'm actually gonna try what the person did in the Flickr image I linked. I already ordered a new Belkin 12 outlet surge protector to replace the crappy 6 outlet ones my mom brought home from work. I also tried to order the rack from IKEA, but they wanted $18 to ship a $10 wire rack! The hell with that, so I'll just pick one up from the store whenever I go to orange county again (or have my uncle grab one if he comes up here).

I know and the wiring here is really old, [surge protector bit the dust because of this..]   the electricity folks even sent me a letter, AND phoned me, telling me I'm in danger.. .. and they asked me to contact them, to get THEM to fix it ..why not do it NOW, whilst we are ON the phone guys?....But nope.. I was told, I have to call them.. wtf?   so, I'd have to hang up, call that person back to ask them to fix it?.. ok too weird.
