Used to be used as a sort of reward for being helpful in the forums, thesedays, imo. virtually worthless.
just give it out to whoever.. for whatever reason

Hey John I see most of yours is just whatever karma just like most of us. They could do away with it all together as far as I'm concerned. We need co-operation not competition. IMHO.

Well, I'd like to think that much of it came from helping with skinning posts.. most recent stuff is whatever from whoever.
All the more reason to do away with it, I agree, co-operation not competition, I think it alienates more people than it helps.

It was intended to be a "for fun" thing. I'm not sure how it helps anyone. The fun of it for me is in the giving, not in the receiving.

I remember being on a site years ago.. dont think it's around anymore.. but I always felt lowly when comparing shown post counts of mine to some others.. Ended up leaving cos I felt like odd man out..
Same thing with this I think. I'd like to be able to show or not show it on a per user basis.

I like it for the fun Wiz, but I really don't think that's how it was intended. I believe when it first came about it was to be given to those who helped others with mainly product related questions. It just kind of got a life of it's own. Maybe a POLL on whether to keep it or not, or to restrict or not the way it is used if kept might be in order.

yes...the whole thing has diluted...perhaps just make it a comments area...not karma....no numbers....it's kinda run it's course really...and unlike the seemingly endless comments in personal sites....only seems to run to 50 odd....

this karma feature, to me is a motivational tool. the more karma you obtain, the more you feel accepted within this here community. the less karma you have, or none at all makes you feel unwanted and unloved take for example tails girl. she burst onto the scene with such vigor and positiveness..and i mentioned to her, youre the karma queen!. she will have 1000 karma by summer. anyhoo..that is my assesment of what karma is all about

Karma is just that little thumbs up icon in the lower bar of a post. You give it for help received or for a post you find helpful, caring or kind, expressing the spirit behind WC...it can also be given to cheer someone up if he/she is down, or for a skin, etc. that you like....
When you click in the "thumbs up", a little window opens and you type in the reason you're giving it.
Unfortunately, it cannot be exchanged for beer or pizza.
You can check who's given you karma and why, etc. when you click on your Karma score (found right next to that thumbs up button).
