Hide superflous tray icons?
And other questions
Monday, December 29, 2008 by Aemer | Discussion: Docks
Hi
Just purchased objectdock + today
I currently use 3 docks: One for shortcuts on the left (start menu, stacks), one for tasks inthe middle, and one for tray icons onthe right. This is of course to replace my taskbar
However, 2 problems: The tray icons are low quality and tiny, but I have 15 of the little buggers!
How do I hide the ones I don't need? I only really want the ones that actually tell me anything about my status.
I would much prefer having google talk, msn, skype, mail, utorrent etc. stacked amongst my tasks in the middle than in the notifycation area on the right.
Also, second question, how do I do better res versions of the animated ones? Battery indicator and such are ugly at any size above 16px.
Finally, I'm on a tablet which means I would like my computer to work in both portrait and landscape. I would also like to have a uniform background, which works in both modes. Finally, I would like to have something behind the task icons, the shortcuts, and the tray icons that's uniform; similar to a taskbar. The 3 docks take up 32px of height and I'd want whatevers behind them to be the same size. I've thought over simply drawing a bar onto the background, but it's not plausible due to the way windows centers my background when I rotate...So I'm stumped for what to do.
I guess my question is, how to elegantly turn 3 docks into something that looks like a task bar?
Thanks a lot for the help ! Mads
