Anyone can be a skinner. All it takes is making a skin, it doesn't even have to look nice. ![]()
You could talk to the stardock design crew, they make custom skins.
Requests are rarely done for free though, because it takes a huge lot of work to make a skin. And my own experience with cutstomizing peoples computers is that anyone doing a free request expect just as much perfection as those who pay good money for it...
From an artistic point of view it's way better for a skinner to stick to doing their own things....

And to get you started, Z71 has a WB uploaded that he's made open source, 3nvir0, https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=6715&libid=1
All he asks is that you modify 50% of the skin, so 50% of your work is already done for you! There is no better time to start skinning than now.

You might post your request and maybe a few graphics and maybe you'll inspire someone to do it.

If you got it the day it was released then you've played it an average of 141 times a day.............impressive.........
6 times an hour...if you didn't sleep all month........How did you manage to eat, intravienously? ![]()

one day i will request someone to create a custom skin for me..but in order for me to pay for it, it'll have to be really kick butt design..and im sure with the many skinners here, they'll do a fine job. yessiree..ill be willing to pay ..how much would a custom skin go for?..maybe $8.00 ? the theme im thinking of would be centered around the need for speed undercover game
Reply #11 Friday, December 26, 2008 12:33 PM
would you be willing to put in 40 hrs for $8.00?
i think maybe you're confusing skins for sale (those purchased by anybody) with a custom skin. A custom skin would be one designed for you. A one of a kind skin that no one else would have.
$8 for a custom skin woud be really cheap - if it took only 40 hours would mean you willing to pay $0.20 an hour for a one of a kind skin
I'm thinking the only place to find someone willing to work for $0.20 an hour would be in a really under developed part of the world and probably wouldn't be able to afford a conputer and/or internet access so will never see your request
on the other hand, maybe a skinner will mull it over and decide to some day give the theme a shot
