DX Theme Error

Theme Crashing DesktopX

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 by Lumic | Discussion: Help

Yesterday, I switched computers to a newer HP Pavilion (XP). I found my upcoming DX theme, iVista (15+ MB) worked fine. However, since last night the theme started crashing DesktopX when it loaded (after the desktop information).

It still works on my old computer. Moreover, a few old variations I made of the theme are also screwing up. However, smaller DX themes like Vista DX by quentin94 and Winders Vista DX worked fine.

I would be really disappointed if my theme is corrupted, as I've spent more than a month on it.

Try clearing the DX cache.

Close DesktopX and navigate to here.

C:\Documents and Settings\Big Dog\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock

(This is a hidden folder go to control panel and change folder options to show hidded folders and files also replace Big Dog with your user name)

and delete the Desktopx folder.

reboot

Try your theme again.

Thanks. I'm glad I could help.

For future reference, you may not always have to reboot to clear the DesktopX cache just delete the folder I indicated above.  The reason I included that here is because I wanted to make sure DesktopX completely reset itself.  Sometimes that's needed to fix problems that can occur with large DX desktops.
