Caption Text Help

Sunday, October 19, 2008 by Xiandi | Discussion: Skinning

I'm creating a windowblind and have come across something that i can't figure out.

On this blind (BeJava2), there is text on the caption..

On most other blinds there is not... (Gloss Burgandy as an example)

How can I get the text to always show up? I've tried to do comparisons between the the one I'm working on and the one with the text showing, and I see no difference in how it's set up, but mine will not show.

in skin studio 6 pro

I'm seeing:

edit titlebars and window frames > edit UIS2 frames > caption > > extra > hide titlebar text  (enable to hide / disable to show)

that what you're looking for?

nope. The text is not hidden.

I'm using a text background. I have the titlebar buttons positioned to be to the right and left of the text....except sometimes there is no text, like on the control panel, so the buttons dont show up. I need a way to make the text show up on the explorer windows, so the buttons will too.

That text appears on the BeJava2 blind, so I know it can be done...I just don't know how.

The caption is hidden on explorer windows in Windows Vista normally.  The skin that shows it is a UIS2 skin and on some of those skins WB will show the text for compatibility reasons as the skin assumed a caption.  In this case it uses the Be style mode.

In this case it uses the Be style mode.
I'm not sure what that means. Can I duplicate that? If so, how?

I have it from a good source "that explorer doesn't show titlebar text in Vista."

Right, but when I open BeJava2 in Vista the text shows...can I duplicate that?

Can anyone tell me what "Be Style Mode" is?

When it has a tab instead of a bar (I think)

Looks like that skin is was made in an older WB format that allowed for be os tabs Xiandi, dont think your going to be able to do that in 6

Besides... MS has already decided for us that we dont need text in captions now, didn't you get the memo?

Thanks for the link Zu.  Sigh, looks like I'm going to have to change the frames on the blind...

Looks like you're right.

didn't you get the memo
No! That was quite rude of them not to send it to me.
