wincusomize.com............the snail of the internet
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 by supershaft1961 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
am i the only one with this problem? when i click my shortcut for wincustomize.com, i can go and make a cup of tea while i wait for the site to load in. no i am not on on dial up, i have 8mb broadband. when i browse skins and themes the pages are just as slow. then i saw the avertisment "buy a wincustomize subscription.......blah blah de blah blah.......many benefits including....blah blah.......no advertisements meaning faster page loading.....blah blah". so i bought a subscription. pages load just as slow as before.........yes i did install the wincustomize browser, the problem is this is worse than internet explorer and firefox 3.
anyone else pi**ed off at the speed of the wincustomize website?

ROFLMAO!!!!!!
As I read these threads, I get the feeling that I may be the last person still using Wincustomize Browser...lol. I did finally uninstall SDC.

There is still a great deal of demand for the browser I can assure you. It certianly has not been forgotten.
Speeds can be up and down for different browsers considering on what is being worked on at a time. If you are having real troubles you might want to break out IE& to give it a shot. I know there are a great deal of IE haters out there, I myself love Firefox, but it really is a staple of the industry and I recomend it for any site that gives you troubles. This certainly isn't limited to Wincustomize.
You could do what I do; if it slows down hit the short cut of IE/book-mark-right-to-WC to see if it helps.

I have WC bookmarked in both FF3, and IE7. At differing times, both faster than WC Browser, yet I still prefer WC Browser. Now I have a lot of trouble with Impulse, but that's another thread...lol. I probably spend 14 hours a day, most days, at my computer, so I have time...lol.

It was addressed:
If you've been around here awhile, you'll note that we are easily distracted. Especially if you..um..wait....GEEEEESE!

What Messiah1 means is......this is a thread, and threads are meant to be hijacked. Be thankful the the issue was addressed
.
As for FF3 vs. IE7....well, FF3 loads faster for me, less bloat, but....it depends on my connection. I have 7mb broadband via remote, since I live in Central Oregon
, which means that at any time of day the pages load fast, or slow. I want 20 mb fiber optic here....now!!!!!!
(there is my hijack of the thread
)

i have been around a while, WAITING FOR THIS F**KING PAGE TO LOAD IN.
Your question has been answered
it was an open question posted to all, and therefore there would be potentially many answers, and therefore it would be never answered.......derrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

OK. today I have had slow page loads and buttering Bebi's avatar on both side was excriciatingly slow... so slow in fact, it needed warming over a hotplate (new FF extension) 4 times so it would still spread. The worst part was that I couldn't get into the forums at all earlier today (Sat morning Oz time)... wasn't until the Oz PM before I could get ino the forums, trying both IE and FF.

Been here twice today - left because pages are loading slow as shite. Made a comment at 8 am on one skin...had to close down browser cause my cursor was endlessly spinning and I could feel my arteries hardening while waiting. Using FF 2.0.0.1.7....and no I do not have dial up ...

Partial quote from another post, to which I have STILL not had any improvement, or further information/suggestions:
...
@ Mumblefratz
It's not expired for me, it has been this slow for me since I discovered Wincustomize / Stardock a couple of years ago.
And it's not only these forums, but I can't say at this point what else is really slow,
otherwise someone will come in and delete my relevant post again!
This slowness, both on the forums, and the other slowness that I am not allowed mention,
are the reason I couldn't be bothered buying a Wincustomize subscription,
which, yes, I had been considering.
I have had this slowness since the first day I eventually got the Forums to load.
I couldn't be bothered typing all the stuff again,
you can read about it in the other Thread,
which can be found here:

It's not your browsers people..... WinCustomize simply need to focus and completely revamp these hidious & slow forums...! These forums are cheap looking and ugly and need to look a bit more professional and made a lot faster period, this isn't 1995!

There are a great deal of changes being updated through several portions of the Stardock sites.

It has been very slow to the point of not being usable all day for me. FF3.03 The forums have been ok but going to the galleries is just a nightmare.
Reply #39 Saturday, October 4, 2008 4:22 PM
I have no idea either. *shrug* And I don't even like butter. ![]()

supershaft1961... I use FF3 and ie7. At times the site is like molasses in January. At others it's pretty quick. I've seen several posts on this topic and none ever seem to get anywhere slowly or quickly (lol). Sometimes a bit of humor helps as I don't see any ping data from anyone here.

I have found that this site [ for me anyway ] has always been quite speedy. Never any problems here.
