Wincustomize Home page issue
Monday, September 8, 2008 by wulfn1 | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

I am using windowsXP home
Firefox3
and broadband
The page stays that way till I click the back button, then it goes right for a moment before bringing me back to the page I started with. Also the broken images are there even when I get the whole page showing up correctly.

hmmm it won't let me edit my reply. I would have edited thusly:
"for the record, I tried to bring this up in irc to keep it out of forums, but"....and so on.

You are not alone. I haven't been able to get on irc since yesterday and having issues with how some pages in WC display.

The only homepage issue I have encountered in the past week is my name not showing or avatar. It will just say Wincustomize User.

Everything is fine for me here right now. Had checked in here at various times today. Have you tried clearing out your browser temp files, history and cookies yet? I've got both FF3 and IE7 working just fine here.

Unclerob, I saw that in another post somewhere (can't find it at the moment). If you are using IE6, that's why that doing that.

This happened to me a couple months ago after one of those server burps...screwed up my HydraIRC Default_Profile.xml
I ended up having to copy the one from my home system. For some reason uninstall/reinstall would not fix it.

It seems the odd look is becoming occasional instead of constant, but the image markers for the libraries are still broken, on both ff3 and ie.
also, the pages in the libraries and forums are loading like I had dialup instead of broadband. I checked other websites including those I don't visit often and they are loading smoothly and quickly.
I have done the obligitory cookie cleanup both within browsers and at the bottom of the page, no joy there.
I use uniblue powersuite and kaspersky internet security suite , keeping the place clean, and have assigned all things stardock as acceptable for both programs, so it isn't a security issue.
my machine has been cleaned up recently and defragged recently.
basically I am beginning to think it's not me,, it's stardock/wincustomize that has the issue

huh. Still can't get into irc. have you guys changed the name of your servers or something? Zu said yesterday that he had no problem accessing but it seems myself, and others are having difficulty accessing.

Nothing has changed as far as I know of. I will ask around and see if anything is going on.

Same issue here using FF3.0.1 and IE7. Also the text editor box will not shot up on any of the download pages I go to(i.e. if I go into the gallery and pick one item and then go to it's page I cannot comment there even once it says the page is done loading) Ran ccleaner to clean everything up this morning to see if it would help but with no luck.

Thanks ID
Dunno why it's not working but I've looked at several threads and it seems there is a common problem. I didn't look to see if all those with the problem are east coasties or not, but it's always a possibility there's a break in the path between us and ya'll.

Just noticed also that clicking on a users name in the forums will not bring up the normal menu of options. Doesn't bring up anything.

Well I'm going to be of no use what so ever here.
I'm using IE8 beta and the only thing I see occassionly are ads in the WC forums. They never stay, usally go away as I'm naviagting from post to post. I get to the WC forums from the WC home page.
I have no doubt that some folks are having problems, been there and it gets somewhat frustrating, especially when the problem clears up and you can't figure out what was wrong or what changed.
Hang in there, post your problems giving all the needed info so Andrew can check things out.

Getting it on all names in both FF3.0.1 and IE7. Oh and it just started this morning. It wasn't happening last night because I used it then to send andrew_ the pm for the other thread.

oh and for the record.... for some wierd reason it shows I am connected to the server, but it resets the connection and starts all over again in stardock irc.
I have tried impulse, sdc and chatzilla. can't connect properly with any of them.
