Why do WindowBlind files DL to a temp folder rather than allowing the user to select DL location as with other file types?

Use IE7. How do I set things to DL to a file in this case?

Right-click on the big red "Download" button. In the mouse popup menu that comes up, select "Save target as". In the window that pops up, select your location and click on the "Save" button. The file will save where you tell it to, it will not install until you go to that location and double click on the file. The file remains after you double-click on it, you can move it or delete it as you choose.

I tried to find the download options in IE7, but couldn't find anything. If it were FF it would be easy to find.

I guess the answer to "why does IE7 execute it?" would be that the .wba extension is registered with Windows as a file to be executed using WB. Therefore when IE7 encounters the filetype it downloads it to the temp file and executes it using WB. Also, on IE7, frequently the first time it encounters an extension the first time the "Save or Open" window will have a little box at the bottom of it saying something like "always use this option", and once you check that, bye-bye, you never see that option again. There IS some way to undo that, I can't for the life of me remember how.

If you Google this phrase - Always ask before opening this type of file
you'll find some techniques for getting the "Save or Open" to come back up once you've checked the box.
Here's the jist of it for XP:
Under Administrative Logon:
Open up Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer, but Windows Explorer)
Click on "Tools" menu command
Click on "Folder Options" dropdown command
Click on "File Types" tab
In "Folder Options" window, "Registered file types:" subsection, scroll down to Extension "wba" / File Type "wbload Document", click once on it to select it.
Click on "Advanced" button (lower right)
In "Edit File Type" Window, select "Confirm Open after download" checkbox.
Click "Ok" button in "Edit File Type" Window
Click "Close" button in "Folder Options" Window
Close Windows Explorer Window
I did that and got the window to come up once, then didn't see it again. Haven't been able to get it back since. Seems a little quirky but you might give it a shot. Tired of playing with it for now. Guess I'm sticking with the right-click approach.

1st DaveRI initially tried the right-click - no luck, just brought up the tab as primarily relates to 'image' issues as far as I can tell. Will give your second suggestion a try. tnx...
2nd Bebi Bulma - am using FF3. Read the initial notice on the compatibility probs between it & this site and haven't tried using FF3 here or on the primary SD.

The "incompatibilities" are negligable at best, nothing that would totally break the site or anything (something about stacked boxes....or something). It should work fine.

It all I use here at WC. Faster loading,browsing the galleries and downloading than IE7.+I can pause dl's.I have it auto install WB's and it all works great.FF3 has tons of smilies too.What's not to love?

Tnx all. Had to del the association with WB as suggested. Took some time because, for some reason, XP just didn't want to do it. After a few reboots and tweaking around I finally got it to take.
Think, after all this, I'm going to start using FF3. Is actually a little faster...
