DeviantART V6 is here.

With a new deviated look.

Saturday, July 12, 2008 by Snowman | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Our friends over at dA have busted their behinds to make yet another version of their great site.
Countless hours/days/weeks/months have gone into makeing the site even more convenient to use, and I know alot of us do check the site more or less every day.
I know, I do.
Listing all the changes would be pure madness and probably fill most of the frontpage, so you'll just have to go see for yourselves

OK just wondering what so great about deviant art i been there just a few times no matter what they do to it i don't get what's so great about it, what i hate about it,1.its slow,2.i get a string error on every page.3.pictures are to small to do anything with them as far as having any wallpaper out of them so what's so great about it, any of you guys sell your work there i mean do people really buy prints from there and how does that work and how much of a percentage do you get for each print sold, just wondering.

You need to actually browse the wallpaper gallery for that.

Here's an idea. Go to them, and ask them

Although I figured out how to navigate the site and do what I needed to do, it is still very confusing in spots. ( When will they learn that simplicity is everything!

i really can't think of one thing i like about it, not the color scheme, not the layout, and since my subscription just recently ran out, i've come to see that this version is around twice as ad intensive and invasive with a huge box on every page saying "hey hey, click here and subscribe to get rid of this annoying "click here to subscribe" box! because if we can't provide any real appeal, or real benefit to subscribing, we'll just hold the site ransom to you by making it suck till you do".

"SUBSCRIBE TO
DEVIANTART NOW!

Remove ads... and experience deviantART the way it was intended!"

if you wanted me to experience the site the way it was "intended~", well... you sort of missed the perfect opportunity to do so when making this new version, otherwise what's the point?

anyone else find themselves missing jark?

i suppose though, i do love the footer, my problem with it is i think it should either be the header or be the home page itself, it's the only thing i want to see on the current layout and i don't like scrolling down to the bottom every time. it would also be cool to customize the footer to add more channels to it as we were able to before.

oh well. =/

DeviantArt is good for some unique wallpapers (e.g. photography, Vista/OS X wall mods, ect.) and some simple, minimalistic skins. I find stuff there that I would never see on Wincustomize (or anywhere else for that matter).

It just shows you how HUGE the skinning/graphics community is!

WinCustomize is still the best, though...

You know.. while were at it... I'm sick of people who want to flash themeselves naked all over DA using the excuse "oh you can simply block adult content if you want to'

First off.. I shouldn't have to block something.. I should have to log into it to see it.. and secondly.. What about all the lil kids, older folks, not so PC savvy that don't even know there are ways to block this stuff from their account, or for those that dont even HAVE an account.. I think It's an awful thing that DA continues to put nudity on their Main pages... Male or female.

I shudder to think how many underage children have opened DA to see some guys chopper as a Daily Dev.

I think it's ridiculous.

For people who aren't logged in, they can't see anything marked as mature content (that's how it's supposed to work). And I totally agree, nothing from the *nude galleries should be displayed on the front page, newest or not. I don't want to see it unless I specifically go looking for it.

Well, it's not really mine... it's some other guy's, but it's pretty cool.

I guess *I* could use some sleep... only slept about 4 hours last night but I'm kinda used to it. Then again it'd be kinda weird going for a nap while I'm at work at 3pm. My boss might not appreciate it. Go figure.

Anyways, I like the new Message Centre on DA. Found it much easier to work with.

Yep....

Devart is an art site....and depicting the human form, clad or not is an artform.

The only valid 'screening' should be a header page warning prospective browsers/visitors that 'this site contains nudity'.

Other than that censorship/restriction of content should only be about inherent legal boundaries [eg. unlawful depiction of child nudity, etc].

Anyone with a history of Fine Art education, etc. should not have a problem with nudity.....

First nude I ever drew [life drawing] was 36 years ago. [yes, we had them then, too]...

I have no problem with tasteful artistic nudes (=Pelicanh has a nice gallery of these)...but the myspace-style "hey look at my hoo-ha" is just wrong and tacky on so many levels.

You've never seen any questionable deviations on DA, Jafo?

I've come across *many* since I first joined in 2001 and I'm all for nudity in art (I've done life drawing myself) but (here's the age-old question) where's the line between art and porn?

Oh yes....I made a particular point with one's removal too....crossed the 'iffy' lines of 'child-exploitation'.....the same issue currently a hot topic in Oz, lately....
