Wonder why ?

Sunday, July 6, 2008 by mike b1954 | Discussion: Object Desktop

My IE7 has had to close itself for some weird reason , apparently there was an issue  with  ' enhdlg.dll ' ? ?

IE7 XP Pro SP3 OD Ultimate

It re-started ok  .. So what's going on here ?

Mike,
Instead of googling enhdlg.dll try IE 7 Pro.
Even though IE 7 Pro is a Microsoft Program it is extremely buggy and full of security leaks. Dump it quick. I tried it and the patch that came out in the beginning. Caused numerous problems.
I seriously dought it has anything to do with Object Desktop as I used it at work without any skinning programs other tha Cursor XP.

Sorry Peter , I think you might have misunderstood ..

In my original post I should have stated that I use Microsoft IE7 not IE7Pro ( never heard of that one .. ) and my system IS

Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 ( XP Pro SP3 ) ..

IE7 Pro isn't from MS, it's an addon that blocks ads, scripts, etc. I use it and haven't had any problems (when I actually use IE, which is rare).

mike, are you using Enhanced File Dialog, as bichur mentioned?

HI Bebi Thank you for popping in ...

I am not using Enhanced file dialog .... I have never had a need for it ... I don't even know what it does , I'm a pretty basic sort of geek really ....

As for IE I only use that as my main browser , but very rarely, I do sometimes use Deepnet Explorer , and I have never had any probs with it all .. ever ... weird or what ?

Firefox .. I downloaded it a couple of years ago , had issues and have never used it since ... to muuch messing about especially with add ins ...

So , are you recommending I get this IE7 Pro then ?

BTW please dont think me rude if I do not reply right away ... It has just turned 5 am here and I was just on my way to the land of nod ...

Kindest regards, dear ...

I've used IE7 Pro for quite some time on XP SP2 and 3 and also on Vista Ultimate x64. Never had any problems with it at all. For me, it adds some functions that eliminate the need to install various plugins. I just love it.

Why the hell is it when anyone WANTS to use IE, is completely satisfied with IE and has no intention of switching from IE that someone has to come along with that answer.
We all know firefox exists okay. Quite a large amount of us though do not like it or think it is in any form superior to IE.
For my part, I would rather read mike's thread remaining on topic instead of it turning in to discussions of solutions he's not interested in.
Thanks.

Purrball : I just checked my ODesktop in Impulse ~ no show ,

BUT when I opened up SDC there it was !! I wonder why it did not show in Impulse ?

Would it be safe to uninstall, or should I just leave it ?

Yrag : Did just that , a command prompt page opened and closed , and the dlls installed ok ..

What did I just do ? Is there any benefit with whats' just been done ?

Phoon ... got it in one, mate ... as I said ,, I'm a very basic 'geek' , as in 'open the box and go'
IE7 has always give me that .. I know it sounds boring but that's the way I am .. I have never had any issues with it , or , for what it's worth Deepnet Explorer ... or even Avant ... ( rarely used, that one .. )

BTW .. thanks for the 'Old - fashioned link ...' methinks its' worth a try ... !
