DX media player

Saturday, June 28, 2008 by WeatherBound | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I love making DX themes but I never add a Dx media player. My Question to all DX users is. Do you use DX media player? or do you think its just a wast in a DX theme? Just debating if i should add it or not since i don't use it.

WeatherBound + PuderDudeJim = DX multimedia heaven

Speaking of Guru's, what does Gef have to say about this!

Now you know he and Boxxi are the Pioneers. But Quentin, Buzz, emecoelho and knofsky are tremendous allies when it comes to DX.

Imagine for one minute the combination of all of these great minds working together for the sole purpose of improving the total multimedia experience of DX Themes!

If nothing else it'd be one hell of a party!

I use dxtheme media player to control my itunes or objectmedia so more complicated things can be handled by restoring player's window. I use it just for quick controls and soundtrack info.

...DX player dosnt create playlist..

I use mine for streaming radio, mostly.I created a playlist of 5 stations with WMP11,or you can use winamp.Save it,then load it into the player.I'll experiment with CD playlists over the holiday weekend.I haven't learned how to build those.I have a 1,000watt 5.1 system for real rockin' and TV.I like these for listening at my desk.181 the Eagle-your home for Classic Rock is my fave,no commercials, good quality.I'm stuck in the 70's and I ain't budging.

Do to the fact that there was not to many opinions on this. I decided that there are not many people who us DX media player.

However I did see that there is a small amount of you who do use it. So I decided to start putting them in my DX themes.

I have been working one one and found that there are a lot of options in building it.
For those who use DX player.

What are your favorite or must have features in DX player?

Scrolling Display
Mute Button
Visualization/Video Window
Changeable Fonts(I sometimes change meters and weather fonts also)

On the topic of DX themes:
Being able to re-color the theme without turning it into a widget. The recent one in the gallery with this ability(ShiftyDX by PuterDudeJim) seems to be overlooked, but I think it is a great feature. If you recolor a matching WB,this would be handy, indeed.

RI!-RI!-RI!I will be stuck with 1024x768 for quite a while yet.I have a perfectly fine 17" IBM CRT.The most awesome of themes do nothing if they don't fit my screen. It's very disappointing to see so much that I can't use. (

I don't know if this is possible, but a mute or on/off for theme sounds, without affecting the player.

Did I mention Resolution Independent?

An active 10 band equalizer, SRS WOW Effects, crossfader and plugged in to handle all media including DVD codec.

These additions to DX players would be an astronomical leap, however folks shouldn't confuse features which enhances the media experience, with much needed quality enhancements.

Thanks for asking WeatherBound!

Scrolling Display - I am working on that one. I can get any text to scroll and put it in a object. The problem I am having is, when I use the media player text and put it in my media object. the text show up for a second then disappears. Still working on this one.

Mute button - I have in it in away. I put a pause play button in it. Why just mute the music when you can pause and resume it at the same spot.

Visualization/Video Window - I do see a option on this in DX player. I will look in to this.

Changeable Fonts - Hmmm, I am sure some one could make a script for this and or it may already be around. Will check in to this.

Agree. will ask puterdudejim for scripts.

Scrolling display is easy. It is an embedded function of the dx player.

Mute buttons? I agree with weatherbound, rather than mute, hit the pause button, or stop and restart from the beginning. Who wants to hear just half of a song?

Visualization windows. I have some real old media players I made a while back that I never uploaded. The visualization window always opens at the extreme top left corner of my screen. It can be scripted to open in a frame(window). But, alas, I am not good with scripts. The media player I used on my Haven DX theme was made using Martin's script from his media player template found on his site. I found it to be very complicated and have gone back to basic media players. Weatherbound, email [email protected]

Does not work with radio. The DJ somehow isn't getting the message.

The vis window ,while nice, isn't seen often.Audio quality improvements are always welcome.cplair had some good suggestions there.

Hmmm... never thought of that either...lol. I don't do radio, that's why. Too much crap in between the songs I wanna hear. But I too, will start adding a mute button, maybe even a shuffle, and loop, or repeat buttons. Balance I never use, I put them in some of my real old players, but never used them.

I believe that is doable in DX. Someone recently suggested that to me.

I meant too many crappy songs in between the good songs that I like. To me , it seems the best way to hear ONLY what I like is to play CDs or music I have on my pc. To each his own, they say...lol. BTW, pickled fish is not fresh...lol.
