Helping a Community Member in Need: Quentin/ArileenDesign

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 by Zoomba | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Some of you may be aware that long-time member of the community and the site moderation team, Quentin94 (ArileenDesign) is in a bit of a financial bind.  After hurting his back about a year ago he is now out of work and facing mounting bills and growing debt as he tries to keep his apartment and feed his daughter.  Unfortunately he's now having to look into bankruptcy and still isn't sure he's going to be able to make ends-meet.

Not being able to work because of an injury is no picnic, especially when you're faced with mounting debt as a result.  As Quentin works through the larger bill issues, he still has to worry about a roof over his head, and feeding his daughter.

To that end, I'm making an appeal to the WinCustomize community.  Quentin has been among our ranks for nearly two years and has given us so much in skins, help on the forums, help in moderation and most importantly in the kind words he always has for everyone.  Personally I've found him to be an invaluable asset to the site staff and I want to help him out any way I can.

So I'd like to ask everyone to take a moment and see if they can donate a few dollars to help Quentin keep his head above water.

He's set up a PayPal account you can donate money directly to.  This means the money is available directly to him (and him only) and he can access it any time he needs.

Note: You do not have to have a PayPal account to donate, you can donate directly via Credit/Debit card.

Also, this is a very special case we're dealing with here.  Quentin is a key member of site staff and a huge resource to the community.  We normally frown upon solicitations on the forums, but in this specific case we felt we needed to make an exception.

If you are able, please lend a hand.  Hopefully between all of us we can lighten the load a bit for Quentin as he works through his current financial and health troubles.

my last project is more than a month late and if I had a budget I wouldn't want to think about it.

Yeah just like a director on a movie set asking the producers...well we are behind because... and I need more money because...

Dear Quentin I pray that you will be given the strength and healing needed to complete your suite. I have full confidence that it will be master level.

People in this community are so nice in helping me. For now i'm sure to be able to feed my daughter and I for 2 months in paying great attention maybe 3. that's simply amazing, last week i didn't even know how i'll feed my daughter when she come at home (3-4 days per week).
So again thanks to everyone, with all my heart

Quentin, my thoughts and best wishes are with you. I hope your situation improves.

A friend in distress is nothing we ever plan for or necessarily know the solution to, but seeing the WC community rally together in your support here is really an impressive event. It evokes warm feelings to see the good in everyone working harmoniously in the time of another's need.

Money is pretty tight for us at the moment, but I hope the small amount I was able to contribute will be of (at least a little) help!

Zoomba, thank you for putting this together. it is an excellent idea.

Quentin, about an hour ago you spent quite a bit of time with me during a private msg I requested in seeking computer support. I just now saw this and am so very humbled by your kindness, generosity of so much valuable knowledge inwhich you freely shared, your sense of humor and especially making me feel at ease in my lack of knowledge rather than my embarrassment.

You are the kind of beautiful spirit that inspires all of us to act, live, love and give more of our best to the world as you have done. In times of fear, doubt and uncertainty, I for one will always think of you and be reminded to do more for others than myself. My heart tells me and you along with this community confirm that this is how true happiness is achieved.

You and your daughter are in my prayers and I will find a way to help. I am in a similar situation and don't have money to send like I wish. What I would like to do is seek out something special to do for someone each day for at least one month in your honor. I hope this doesn't sound petty or silly; I'd just like to pay-it-forward and ask that the Universe give you the credit.

Right now it's early morning and I need to take the trash can from the side of the house to the street. While I'm at it, I'll do my next door neighbors as well and not say anything. We don't know each other very well but who knows what might come of it!

I'll keep thinking of better things to do than "trash duty" and commit to random acts of kindness in your honor for at least a month. God Bless and thank you for your help earlier. I'm off now to secretly take out neiborhood trash in my robe and slippers before the sun comes up! Your friend, libertyspring in Texas
