Questions about MyColors on Vista
Thursday, June 5, 2008 by SKoriginals | Discussion: Stardock Support General
ok, recently Stardock has decided this...
From "MyColors Replacing Premium Suites"
"What does this mean for Premium Suites overall? Well, they're being replaced entirely by MyColors Themes. We've begun the process of upgrading older themes such as Omega to MyColors, upgrading the skins and icons to work under Windows Vista."
So here is my question (proposed to any Stardock employee or whatever who can answer this). Just how much Vista support is there in mycolors?
From screenshots I've noticed that there is little to no 'glass' features being used. I've noticed MyColors Vista screenshots that do not have icons skinned and some other sections. Now I have not installed or used MyColors yet so I can't make a complete list or even 'confirm' any of the above. These are just what I have noticed from the screenshots (even the latest of them).
Also, if there is a lack of support for some features then isn't Stardock actually taking a step 'backwards' by not showing off the full range of what the programs and their skinners can do? And, offer these things to people as premium content (not via MyColors)?

None of the screenshots show any 'glass' features for Vista...
and I still don't know about the rest as (like I said) I haven't tried MyColors to throughly go through the skins.

The WB OEM version for XP is not 6.1 (which I am assuming you also have installed) for mass compatibility. So, if you have WB installed in addition to MyColors, you will see per-pixel in use.
Just like the Premium Suites, not every skin author creates identical content. Some authors see some of the Windows icons as needed to be changed, and others think it's more usable leaving them as is. They all change live folders and the most commonly used icons.
As for Glass, it *can* be used. However, that doesn't mean that all skins will use it. AS an example, Diamond (which is free) uses glass. You could always try it out for free to see what MyColors is like ![]()

On XP, why aren't the logoff dialogs using per-pixel? Like on Cosmos, the XP preview has totally square logoff, but the skin actually has per-pixel dialog.
