The Apple for Windows Theme

Saturday, May 31, 2008 by Spharion75 | Discussion: New Users

Hi, I'm Ricardo from Brazil. I've just subscribed to the forum, though I've first used WindowsBlinds more then 10 years ago.
I'm a serious desktop theme lover, and I've come to use Windows XP without being irked only months ago. I've always been impressed with how much Apple's themes stand out when compared with Microsoft's or Linux's.

I've had my time using Windows skinned to look like a Mac, but it's been years since it strikes me as artificial and unbalanced. What motivated me to turn to Stardock again is the idea I had of what would it be Windows XP like if it had been done by Apple. The hint was: It would match Apple's interfaces for Windows: Quicktime, iTunes. For instance, it would not use the Mac's three colored balls for windows buttons, but Safari's Windows like square buttons with the _, the square and the X signs.

I'm pretty happy with the Leo theme that comes with the WindowBlinds trial. The taskbar matches Safari's inactive title bar, the start button is not an Apple. But the Mac buttons are there, the Menu is separated from the Title Bar by a line and a lighter tone, the toolbar buttons differ from Safari's (though matching them well).

So I'm here to try to find someone who has done my perfect Apple Windows skin, or find how to do it myself .

I'm glad to join a community that shares my appreciation for desktop design.

Try this link.  It's a search in the gallery for "OSX" sorted by most downloaded.

I'm not critisizing (please don't take it that way) but I will never understand making one OS look like another when there is just so much more thats very original out there :/

I think Hes wanting to modify the XP luna them to be all shiny and refined like OSX, and replace the buttons, but I may be reading it wrong, as I am tired.

Some people like the UIs but not the core components. There is some stuff you can only do on Windows, and vice-versa.

For example, Apple released Mac OS X with a dock. People started coding stuff like it for Windows. Now we have ObjectDock.
