Is there any way to revert back to an earlier version of IconPackager until the probs with the 'Activate.exe' issue is solved?

No reason to revert - just do this here if you have Impulse. If you do not have Impulse - then install it from this link here WWW Link

then under the my desktop tab right click the icon packager install button to reveal a drop down menu. There select Re-Activate and then run the program to verify it was activated. That should work for you I hope. It did for me...

If you have further problems I'll be home this afternoon and will do my best to help you out.

The 'activation' didn't work. Every time I try to 'change' an icon type I get the following error message - "Windows cannot find 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Stardock\IconPackager\Activate.exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start Button, and then click Search." This is a known problem and I understand a fix is in the works. I just was hoping there was a way to revert to an earlier (working) version until the 'fix' is in so to speak...

Are you using 4.00.165 from 5/22/2008?

I thought that one fixed Activation issues.

Yes, v4.00.165 (x86). It may have fixed the 'program' activation issues, but not the 'change icon' from the std icon 'properties' tab. At least as far as I know.

I think it fixed the other activation issue ... when IP4 wouldn't activate on install.

The 'can't find ...' bug is still there.

Hallv5 please uninstall the IP4 program and reinstall. Then use the re-activate again. I have IP4 on 2 machines here both XP and Vista with no problems. There has to be something running in the background or something stopping the proper install process.

Could you please give us more info as to what the security software is that you are using? Plus what version of windows?

Windows XP Pro and Norton 360. Did as you instructed and it worked like a charm! Many thanks...

You are welcome there Hallv5. There is always something with XP that can cause you to not get a proper loading of drivers. A usual reinstall and restart sometimes will fix these things.
