Right click goto "personalize" then goto "Window color and appearance"
Then click on "Open classic appearance properties for more color option" at bottom
Make sure "Windows aero" is highlighted then apply.
Goto the desktop background and try the deskscape should work.
Let me know

gotnews4u! Go read my posts on the other DWM thread and the panic button page. What you are saying is that DeskScapes will NOT work with WindowBlinds applied.WB switches the mode to Windows Classic and will not switch back to Vista Standard or Vista Basic(no aero, remember) until unloaded.
I've had this update available since 5/7/08.It's broken my machine twice.I don't plan on hanging with it to v3.0 under these conditions.I'd rather enjoy my WB's,but I am willing to try to help solve this by intentionally breaking DeskScapes.I have several utilities for detailed reports of my rig, including Belarc and SIW.I will gladly make these available. All you have to do is ask via WC or e-mail.
A 'years worth of updates' consisting of two actual usable updates and a dozen repairs to said updates to make them work? What is the value in that?
2.00.058 is not working for a lot people. Why can't Stardock make 2.00.055 available so at least some of them can make DeskScapes work? Please? Pretty Please?Reply #15 Wednesday, June 25, 2008 5:52 PM
I did the service and it was turned off turned it on and still have the same massage.
I did what I stated in the first post and bam started working.
I don't know what kinda programs you have running but all I use is the DesktopX package
and have not had any other problem until this.
Once I e-mailed for support took a few days but it did get fixed.
BTW I am running Vista Home Premium and DeskScapes v 2.00.058 with no Problems.
It sounds like a software conflict to me but what do I know.

There is no conflict,it works now,but will not after the update to 2.00.058.That is the conflict. There is obviously more than one reason to get this error. Thanks for posting what worked for you,but it is not a cure-all.

Had the exact same problem like everyone with the windows desktop manager. I fixed my problem by:
Going into display properties
Select "Windows Color and Apearance".
Select Windows Aero and apply
Open Deskscapes and pic and apply a dream.

You can to to the Start button and then to Run. Type Services.msc in the run command. Look for the Desktop Manager service and double-click it. Then restart it from there.
