Dup listing in Theme Manager for wallpapers

Friday, May 9, 2008 by MrBiggZ | Discussion: Object Desktop

Hiya!

This is a strange behavior and I've seen it for sometime now. I'll put one copy of a wallpaper in my theme managers wallpaper folder and when I go to that section in theme manager it shows up twice and if memory serves me right three times.

I did look in my windows folder and even did a search to see if it shows any place else and it doesn't. Is there a reason why? Something I need to turn on of off in the preferences? Interesting to know!

Thx for ur assisstance!

Here's my proof ..

The theme manager program you can see there are multiple entires for this wall.

Where the wallpaper is. For some strange reason a .bmp copy gets made. Not sure it the manager is doing this or windows.

Very odd.
Can you search for that wall's file name and see if it turns up elsewhere in the file system?

Zubaz ..

I just dump the walls in my Theme Managers wall folder. No place else!

But windows may move them.
Also, vista or XP.  Not sure TM2007 is vista certified.

TM and My colors puts mine in C/Windows/Web.(Same directory as Windows wallpaper, and I've never seen it "clone" copies like that. Strange. Vista 32bit

That's what I'm thinking . .Windows or some other app drops the walls in windows\web and then Biggz here puts them in OD\thememanger\walls . . and we see dups.

Becuase all I do is unzip it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\ThemeManager\Wallpapers

I wonder something! Lets say you see a wall you like and you right click on it in the browser and say "set to background." Would that make it a .bmp file? Curious!

Ahh, when the WB from the theme with an assigned wp appears in WB Config, it will load the wp into "web" I think. Go to WB config, wallpapers,go all the way to the right. You'll see the ones WB inserted. If TM and WB is installing it in two seperate folders, you'll get dups. I did have that happen once or twice while rebuilding my skins list. Forgetful in my old age.   [Edit] Only some are assigned,to be put w/the Windowblind. No idea how that works.

In theory, you could have Diamond and Quest WP in TM , WB, MyColors and in c/windows web all at the same time. I just deleted the extras.... And the Quest MC theme to,accidentally....D'oh!
