Hyperdesk

So with Hyperdesk just around the corner, is this finally some competition for WindowBlinds? How well will TSF and Stardock play together? I know TSF used to contribute here, but they don't show up much anymore, at least with content. I'm anxiously awaiting the release and can't wait to see DarkMatter. Hurry up Jeff.
What are your thoughts?
*UPDATE: Hyperdesk is live. Go check it out and leave your constructive comments about it here. (Notice I didn't say "only leave your good comments or bash it". Constructive comments can be positive or negative but should be supported with facts.)

No, what I'm saying is that these alleged 'deceptions' that keep being alluded to won't register as such to 99.99% of the people we'd like to reach, skin-enthusiasts and new users alike.

You betcha.

Nope - it just never occurred to us that this kind of thing would be an issue. I still assert that it is simply a non-issue to the vast majority. We just created the previews with the same criteria we ever have. There was never any intention to deceive.

Well there is only one good response for that that comes to mind.
Since you have so much time for the forums today why not take the time to count the number of comments posted in this thread, only counting each person once, since the actual release of Hyperdesk and then add to that the comments you've gotten on the HD forums, adding back in the ones that had unwanted critiques and were hidden/deleted, and then compare the number of ones all out praising it to the ones that had criticism about the incomplete/unshown elements.
My guess is the percentage of complaints/critiques will be more than .1%.

vstyler: You go into hyperdrive buddy and call me when a Fortune 100 company pays you over 300K to do a project. I'm mean really Let's see some of those real client jobs you brag about. Surely you have a portfolio up that shows your work and your clients. See we can do that....

No, that's right, you need to work on your theme for an upcoming competition. You go do that and we'll go get paid.

As if any of you really counts as honest criticism. lol Sure zakai, we'll get right on that.

Are you still rambling about that competition? Guess what, most commercial artists don't enter website competitions because they're too busy earning a living doing art. But you don't have that problem do you?
And my god, do you have a crush on me or something? You're on my deviantART page like every 3 hours. I mean i don't blame you because hey, I am kind of cute, but really man you need to get over it, because i'm not leaving my wife for you.

Just looking at the 30 odd comments that come in 1 every six hours... not exactly setting the world on fire eh?
Jeff, when its all said and done.. I care about EVERYONE who uses my work, I can sleep at night and my family loves me.. you'll get paid alright..sooner or later.
It's not all about money in life or clients or portfolios..
Show, don't show, doesnt matter, you cant win it anyway. I garauntee it.

Could you get anymore pathetic?

Yeah, that's right 'fun' - look it up in a dictionary...

Putting words in our mouths once again? Paste where either Billy or I EVER said we don't care about who uses our work. We spend 8 weeks on a theme because we care. No one spends the amount of time that we do on 1 theme. Alienware Invader took Billy around 10 weeks to create that WMP. So besides obnoxious we can tack on you're a liar.
Sure, we'll stop creating Hyperdesk themes so we can compete against you in a skinning competition haha. Right.
If you really want to compete with me then let's compare real stats. Hyperdesk.com was ranked 65K on Alexa today and we've been live for about 3 days? You don't even have a ranking yesterday. Really burning up the net aren't ya?
On deviantart your pageviews are about 1/5 of ours and we hardly upload.
Want to compare what our client gross was last year with yours?
So when you say we worry we can't win. What exactly are we talking about? Life or here on Wncustomize. You're not even close to being on our level. Man up and admit it. Some kudos on a skin site does not make you a king. It doesn't even mean your good. You're not really good until you have major companies entrusting you to put a face on their products. So go enter your competition cuz that's really what counts... isn't it?

Aww Jeff, so mean, you know I wanna have your babies you're just so awesome.
But yes...I collaborated on a Master Skin. Probably because he knew I would give honest feedback, I just have that kind of no-nonsense attitude (and have been told I have an eye for style and design, shrug). Am I a skinner? God no. Do I know how to make anything decent in PS? I'd be kidding myself. But do I know the basics of how a Windowblind is put together? Sure. I've tweaked enough in SKS to find my way around.
As for my function...I'm the "Grand Poobah of the Wiki." Yeah...for the past 4 years or so, on 2 different sites, I've been acting as support, helping people with stuff (IPB in the old days, skinning now). I've had to put up with a LOT of crap from n00bish twit kids over the years when I've just been offering help. Hell, in the past week I've been helping 3 people with their WordPress blogs because I'm familiar with it and they're just getting started (all this on top of my own). I like writing tutorials and explaining how to do all this fun customization stuff geared for the newbs. Why? Because I enjoy having a wicked looking desktop and want to help others feel the joy of it. "Those who can't do...teach," so that's what I try to do.

Certainly seems that way. Never a good business stance to think your customers are too dumb to know any better and thus don't deserve to see everything since "they don't know what all this is anyway."
